Ecclesiastes 10.12
The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious;
but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself.

The words we speak are important - God say's in His word that every word that comes out of our mouths will be heard - nothing is hidden from God - but it goes further - God even knows our thoughts - what is your thought life looking like? Its a scary thought to know that God knows what we are thinking - and He even knows what we say before we even say it - its a matter of the heart - out of the heart the mouth speaks - many have trouble talking without cussing or gossiping - none of this should be tolerated coming from the mouth of someone who knows Jesus as Savior - I am not judging anyone as much as I am judging myself - all of us say things we regret later - God wants control of our hearts and this will control our tongues - The fool will say foolish things - this steps on some toes I am sure - but the wise only speaks what is beneficial - many of us talk about others and if we are not careful it can turn into gosip - You have heard it said even prayer requests can be used as gosip - God says its wrong so we must be careful - we are all easily swayed and sometimes do the things that God tells us not to do without even realizing it - God will clean up your heart and then your mouth will follow - but it requires our giving over of our wills to Him - it requires a new way of thinking - of admit we are just like everyone else in this world -human - we all fail - we all falter - but God wants more for us - as HIS children He wants our speech to be above reproach - so next time you feel the urge to say something bad - pray and seek God - and let HIM tame your tongue! Amen!
