WE ONCE WERE

GALATIANS 3:23
...But before faith came, we were keep under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed!


As we reach the end of another month -I must say its been a hard one -from the contiuned back trouble of my wife to my step Mom being in very serious condition -ive seen two people that I love suffer a lot -and its hard to bear - but along with these two who have suffered so much -those around them have suffered- we are all connected is what I am learning and as the Body of Christ- what happens to a part of the body happens to the whole thing! As we move closer and closer to our day of departure -we should take a step closer to our LORD each and every day - but before we know CHRIST -we where chained to the law- and none of us could met it's standards- we needed a Savior and JESUS CHRIST fit the bill - before Christ we were lost sinners on our way to eternal separation from God our Father. But now that CHRIST has come and HE has redeemed us by HIS blood -we are no longer locked up the Law but are freed through the blood of JESUS - which by the way met all that GOD required- many want to add other things to the simple gospel - like you must be in church every time the doors are open - now I am not saying we should not go - but don't go thinking it will earn you a place in Heaven -we all must come the same way -through the LORD JESUS!
We once were lost -but now we have been found - JESUS took our place and HIS blood was all that was needed to save us! Rejoice that we are not what we once were -we are now sinners-saved! Praise the LORD for this inexpressible gift!
Its free for us but cost JESUS HIS life! Lets never forget what it took to save us!One drop of HIS blood is more then enough! Amen!

A side note: When CHRIST came and saved us -we were never the same again -and though we can live like we are not saved- what JESUS says is all that matters- some think we become perfect and can never sin again once we know CHRIST -but the truth is we still live in sinful bodies- and we have the flesh to contend with - the walk is not easy but its worth it! In the end we are HIS and HIS alone! Lets rejoice in our salvation that JESUS paid for!

WORTHLESS TREAURE

PROVERBS 10:2
Treasures of wickedness profit nothing;
but rightousness delievers from death!

There are people in this world today that only care in the world is money -the things of this world- they are only intrested in these things and its all passing away - if we base our lives on our possessions or the money in our bank accounts -we will miss God- The Word says we must store up treasure in heaven - we must invest our money(Which by the way belongs to God) in the things of God - we must not hold tightly to the things of this world -for the things of this world are worthless treasure -many today would not believe it - but this world is passing away - we are all getting closer to our departure time - I say this not to be depressing but to be completely honest- I must do this since GOD has called me to do this devotional - I must be honest and tell you that ive seen death recently - I saw a friend of mine leave this place - he was just 51 years old - I saw that one day he was here and the next he was gone - as you look at today's prayer requests it becomes clear that none of us in promised forever or a long life- we are promised that when all is said and down - we will enter into HIS presence- the clock is ticking away - are you investing in worthless treasure or in the things of God - when our time here is over- we cannot get another chance -this world passing away - why do we place our trust in it? Lets put our trust in the LORD completely - only HE can save us and bring us to heaven with Him! Lets store up treasure in heaven - not on earth! Amen!

VISITATION

LUKE 1:68
Blessed be the LORD GOD of Israel;
for He has visited and redeemed His people!

The whole message of the gospel of JESUS CHRIST is the fact that God came near - that God came to this place that HIS very hands had made - to step into the humanity that HE Himself had made - this is the bottom line - Dayspring on HIGH has visited us! The LORD has been in our shoes - He knows what its like to be a mere man - He knows what its like to be tempted - in a way that I cannot even begin to comprehend - JESUS took our sin and died for it - taking our penalty to the cross and to the grave and rising again three days later-
The message of the gospel is timeless - JESUS paid it all -its finished -there is nothing left to pay on it- no IOU would do - its done - and we are the receivers of that grace that God gave to us through HIS SON! The LORD has been upon this earth - He has seen things from our perspective -again this is beyond what our minds can grasp - God became man- I know this is the message we often hear at CHRISTmas - but why not year round -its just as special in July that JESUS came as it is on December 25 - the message and the Savior is for all seasons!
Lets remember that we do not serve a God that is far off - or one that cannot relate to us - He was one of us! I like that song from a few years ago called If God were one of us - I take it a step further -GOD was in man - the Creator dwelling in the creation! Its amazing that God came to earth - HIS visitation saved our souls! PRAISE GOD!

Know His Name

KNOW HIS NAME

ISAIAH 52:6
Therefore My people shall know My name: therefore they shall know in that day that I am He that speaks: behold it is I!

We are all born with a hole that only God can fill- through our parents - our Sunday School teacher and our pastor -we get to know more and more about the LORD! We begin to know HIS name - we are HIS People and we must recognize our Father! We must worship at HIS throne -we must live lives that point to HIM at all times! We must know HIS name! His name is the greatest name -its such a name that people are saved by uttering it! His name is above every other name! Names are very important to God -the name you have is no accident -God wanted you to have that name - but the Word also talks of a new name - a name that God has for us -and only He knows what it is - as we begin to know our Lord more and more -He reveals more and more of Himself to us -we are not the same people we were 10 years ago - and we are not going to be the same people 10 years down the road - but God never changes! If you know HIM today - you will know the same GOD tomorrow! Do you know HIS name? The name of the Most High? The name of the Savior of the world? Do you know HIS name? When we come to know HIM through JESUS - we take on HIS name - Christ - we become Christ-followers of Christians - we are HIS People and we take HIS name! We must know HIS name! His name alone is mighty - HE called HIMSELF the GREAT I AM! Because HE simply is - its not HE was - or HE will be - but HE is! That is enough - We bless YOUR name LORD!
We praise YOUR name! You are mighty to be praised!
Blessed be the name of the LORD!

25- and now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew near the house, he heard music and dancing - 26 - and he called one of his servants, and asked what these things meant - 27 - and they said to him - your brother has come. and your father has killed a fatted calf, because he has received him safe and sound - 28 -And he was angry, and would not go in; therefore his father came out and entreated him....

Today's devotional is very personal - for God was speaking to me the other day during some time outside with my dog -I find Him speaking to me a lot lately about some issues in my life - Ive been in sort of a valley for a little while - God is leading me through it - the other day I was just thinking about someone I know who does not even know the LORD but yet is doing the Lord's work - and God asked me how that made me feel? I had to admit my pride right then and there - pride is a scary thing - it can make you do things you would not ever dream of doing -our human nature can feel threated quickly - it seemed to me that this person had done more for the LORD then I had - and did not even know the LORD - this left me perplexed and God reminded me of the story of the Prodigal son and I said- oh I know that story - but God was wanting me to look at it from another angle - most times ive heard a sermon on this parable the focus is on the son who left and came back -but not much is said about the other brother - the other brother's reaction when the lost brother had come home was not good at all - he was jealous and thought that all the work He had been doing for HIS FATHER would be rewarded -after all he was the "Good" son - but the truth be know is that this was a time of celebration -the other brother missed out on it - strange - but the Father's response was not hatred or even anger - The Father simply told the other brother that everything HE had belong to him as well - but that because this other son was thought to be dead but now was back home alive -there was a time of celebration -it was not that the father loved the other son who came home more then the one who stayed behind or vise versa - the main point is we should do things for GOD not to gain anything - we cannot earn HIS favor -but we all must work for the LORD out of reverence and love -many times we expect something when we do something good but those who don't know the LORD don't really strive to gain anything -we could learn from that - I was in the crosshairs of God's word and it was a great place to be - lets make sure we are not like the Other Brother!
Amen!

A side note: None of us have anything that was not given to us by God - God is no respecter of persons but loves us all the same - He loves you simply because HE created you! HE longs for us to enter into HIS life saving realtionship!

PREPARATIONS

JOHN 14:2
In My Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so,
I would have told you. I go prepare a place for you.


Last night I went to the visitation of Doug and his family - it was very hard to see my friend no longer with us in this world -Doug was not there anymore but was home - the family left behind were the ones who needed a touch from God - Doug did not want to cause his family to suffer undo pain -so he went peacefully into the hands of JESUS! I was touched by the number of people who came to the visitation - Doug worked at my job - he worked as a contractor with electronic background - he was an every day handy man - but the thing about Doug is that he always had a smile on his face and a nice thing to say! He had the joy of the LORD and he knew where he was going - and we know where Doug is today! He is home! He is more alive then he has ever been! Doug is in the presence of the LORD! What better place is there to be - Jesus did not give too much away about what heaven would be like - He said their would be many mansions - and that HE had to leave to prepare a place for us - today God of All is preparing us a place- we all have an appointment - Doug's appointment was two days ago -we have no idea when any of ours is - so we must make preparations -we must be ready!
Are you ready? If you don't know JESUS as your LORD then you are not ready! The reality is that apart from JESUS you will not enter the kingdom -God will not bend the rules- The price for our sin is death -either ours or the LORD JESUS!
If we stood in that place -we would be forever separated from God forever- there is no going back! Jesus paid the price and the offer is on the table -we must take HIM up on it - Doug was a man of God and he will be missed - but I know given a choice to leave Heaven and come back to this place -Doug would pick heaven!
All of us will have to face a physical death -unless the LORD returns before then!Make sure you have reservations for heaven and have made all the preparations!

A side note: Are you ready to met the LORD? If not -
get to know JESUS and you will be ready!

Worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness!

Every one of us worships something or someone - we may not admit it - but we all do -we were made for worship -sings Chris Tomlin* -this is the truth! We were made to worship our GOD and we need a reminder that GOD is in fact a jealous God! He does not want us to share our worship with anyone else! GOD alone is worthy of our praise and worship! Many worship this world and the things in this world - all that is in this world is passing away - no matter how many live-aid concerts we have - one day this whole place is gonna pass away - God's word says that the world will face a certain passing -it must burn up and be destroyed so that a new Earth can be created - I don't understand this completely -but God's word says it I believe it! Amen! At the name of JESUS every knee will bow says God's word! We all were made to worship HIM but sadly many fill their lives with everything under the sun and leave any place for God out of their lives! His Name is above every other name the word also proclaims - Are we really worshipping the LORD like HE deserves or are we just going through the motions - God can tell the difference -- there is no fooling God! His Name deserves our worship -no one else but JESUS CHRIST could save us! He had to die so that we could live- and live forever at that - Lets get down to basic worship -lets leave all the cares of this world behind as we go to our GOD and praise HIM - no matter how busy we are today -we must take some time to be alone with GOD - We need to worship HIM all day long! Lets live life's of pure worship! We praise YOU LORD JESUS!

A side note: We were made to worship - We were made to praise HIS name! We have been called to love HIM and others -this is what true worship is all about!

Truth Into Lies

...Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped the creation more then the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen!

Today's world is moving more and more toward relativism - this is where there is no right and no wrong - you can do whatever you want and no have to worry about anything - its life lived apart from God is what it is! Many now feel that we are just some cosmic accident - boom out of the blue we came into existence and life has no meaning or purpose- we are to live to ourselves - the WORD of GOD speaks against such things- Jesus is the way - Period - there is no other way so we can stop looking - Jesus is the only one who died for us to save us from our sins - the world would have you believe that there is no god and thus we have no authority - we are our own god - this is perversion of God's mighty word - We all have a sin-condtion that only JESUS can care for - only HE can take it away! The world around us has turned the truth into a lie - what was once right is now wrong and visa versa - The thing about GOD is HE never changes - and He is perfect so no change would ever been needed -we must heed HIS WORD and trust in HIS BLOOD poured out on the cross to save us from our sin! Lets walk in the light of HIS truth today!

A side note: What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of JESUS!
This truth remains the truth no matter what the worldly people say!
JESUS STILL SAVES!

LUKE 2:79
...To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace..

I have been reading a book called Beatitude - its by Matthew Turner - in this book its all about seeing the true JESUS! In part of the book Matthew talks about peace -and what real peace looks like - Matthew said it looks like Jesus- he also said that many are searching for peace -but the wrong kind - when most of us think of peace -we think of the non-war times -we think of rallies to bring our troops home -and we also think about peace in our families - among its members- but the peace JESUS brings comes from HIMSELF - its peace that springs up from inside of us and takes us over- its peace for the sake of pleasing God - of laying down what we want and giving into what HE wants- real peace starts in the heart -its not just outside action but its the why behind what we do - I know I must confess sometimes my prayer time seems like its on auto pilot - we get caught in a rout and its hard to get out of it - We must be willing to see what real peace by looking at JESUS and the way He lived this life -peace comes from know CHRIST!
If you don't have peace inside your heart -why not try JESUS? HE is calling all to HIMSELF - He wants us to know HIM and none of us is too far from HIS grace that we cannot have real peace - if you don't know CHRIST then you will never have real true lasting peace!
The Peace of GOD passes our understanding -
Jesus, bring us this peace! Amen!

A side note: No Jesus - no Peace -know JESUS - know Peace!

Great things is the title of today's email - because GOD will do great things -and not only that - HE has done great things - and will always do great things! God created the heavens and all that is in them -just to gaze up into the night sky and see star after star puts us in awe of HIS Power - He is the most powerful of all -He is everywhere- no one can hide from God - the list of great things HE has done will fill the world with pages - the greatest thing He did for you and me was the offer of salvation through HIS SON! He made a way for us to get back to HIMSELF! The enemy of our souls does not want anyone to come to know this truth and he will try to convince people that there is no god! But the truth we all know is HE is real and HE is there -HE wants a personal relationship with the children HE made - that includes all of us - "There is room at the cross" Michael W. Smith sings - and this is the truth -we all must come to GOD the same way - through the Son! This is the greatest thing that could ever be done! When you serve Christ you should always expect great things- even when everything seems to go all wrong - my example was this years Compassion Sunday at my church - a long list of things when haywire - the table I had spent some time setting up -just fell down - stuff went flying at the worst time - the service was about to begin and I did not have anyone to help me - Then when I got it all together -the video that was to play malfunctioned -so I could not say what I wanted to say - and thought the video would do what I could not! I left that day very upset- but God was still using me - it does not matter the circumstances -when GOD is in it - Great things will happen! I found out just the other day that one child was sponsored! Amazing! God is good and HE does great things! Trust HIM today! And you will never look back and regret it! Amen!

A side note: Think about the great things GOD has done in your life - and then dwell on that today -and when you are feeling down - HE will lift you up!

SEEK & REJOICE

PSALM 40:16
Let all those that seek YOU rejoice and be glad in YOU; let such as love YOUR salvation say continually, the LORD be magnified!

There are many in this world today that are seeking after worldly riches- many set their goal at being rich - having this and that - all the while its all passing away - Today's verse talks about those who seek the LORD - those that thirst after the LORD -those that are desperate for the Lord! The Word says that these people will seek GOD and in turn rejoice! Joy comes from the LORD- while the brief happiness can come apart from HIM - JESUS talked a lot about what we own or what owns us - He knew the struggle we would have - even well meaning Christians -we can get off track -its hard when the world around us seeks the things of this world and they shine and look nice -and we want that - seems like there is a lot of competition in this world - who has the best and biggest house- the newest best car - and the greatest clothes- that is what Hollywood wants to see us - its cheap and its end is death -all this stuff is passing away - while our relationship with the LORD will last forever- we are not here for long - what will it matter in 100 years what type of house we lived in - what kind of car we drove - how much money we made or our fancy job title - all that will matter is our relationship with God! That's all -that is all that lasts - our bodies -our things - our lives are passing away quickly and one day we will use up all our time here and be on our way home! In the meantime we need to keep our eyes on JESUS and seek HIS face -and then and only then can we really rejoice! HE has won the victory for us - lets rejoice in that today and always - He wants us to seek after HIM as the deer pants for the water! Lets seek and rejoice in our LORD JESUS! Amen!

A side note: What do our lives mean? Apart from JESUS and a relationship with HIM there is no life! We have life only in our LORD and Savior! Lets praise HIM today!

EAT

ISAIAH 55:2
Wherefore do you spend money for that which is not bread? And your labor for that which does not satisfy? Harken diligently unto Me, and eat that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness!

Food is a very important part of our lives -we in America really have no clue what it means to starve! Sure there are poor people in our country -but not as poor as the rest of the world! Eating is not only a necessity -its a social thing we do - we love to eat out to met with others- after church -also our weekly men's meeting takes place while we eat- Jesus knew this and often ate with HIS followers- the WORD also says JESUS wants to come in and eat with us - eating is part of our life- God made us so we would have to eat - to need sustenance- we cannot go very long without something to eat and drink - today's verse talks about eating that which is good - JESUS has called HIMSELF the BREAD OF LIFE - and the LIVING WATER - we are to feast on HIM with our lives -HE dwells within us - and wants us to have our Daily Bread! We must eat our full of JESUS - allowing HIM into every area of our lives! He must be LORD of our everything - we must eat of HIM or we cannot live for HIM - many where taken aback when JESUS told HIS followers that His body would be broken and HIS blood poured out for HIM - HE showed them this in the Last Supper- many thought it was cannibalism -but they misunderstood - we must take JESUS in our hearts and feed on HIM by faith!
Lets eat that which is good - Taste and see -the LORD Is good! Amen! Now lets eat....

A side note: we are what we eat! So when we eat of JESUS - we become like HIM!

Blessed is the nation who's God is the Lord, and the people
whom He has chosen for His own inheritance.

Today we celebrate the 231st Birthday of our Nation!
Today we celebrate the brave men and women who paid the price to bring us our independence from England - The men and women who made the bold move to leave behind the Mother Country of England to form a new nation - lead by God - to bring everyone freedom of religion -no one can tell you how or who to worship- we are all free to worship as we please! This is the way it has always been from the first township that was established to the last State of the union added -God is in the fabric of this nation - however there has been a sad trend over the last couple of decades of a decline from the things that our Forefathers had established -many have moved away from the foundation of our great nation - and if the foundation is moved -we all will suffer - this Nation is One Nation under GOD - period - many who simply believe there is no god -have to admit we are a blessed nation -more blessed then any in the history of the world - and yet so many take our freedom from granted -to some the 4th of July is nothing more then a day off from work -and that's all - to some is all about Family - which is a good thing but we must get to the bottom line -we celebrate our freedom! We celebrate the independence of our nation and our dependence on God the Creator of all things - we belong to GOD and will remain one Nation under God!

Lets celebrate our freedom today by living free - and knowing that our Nation's freedom is a gift from God - we must acknowledge our Lord in our Nation- lets lend a hand where it's needed -
Freedom always comes at a great price -many men and women have laid their lives on the line to protect our freedom -its never free -one way we can celebrate our freedom is not hiding from those who wish to do us harm -but living out loud our freedom! God will bless the nation that follows after Him - we are a part of such a nation -but as time slips away- the foundation has begun to crack - lets patch things up - lets go to our Father in prayer - lets enjoy our freedom and celebrate those who have given their lives the United States of America!GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Hidden Faces

ISAIAH 53:3
He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it where our faces from Him, He was despised and we esteemed Him not....

As Jesus was walking that long road to the cross -many along the way hid their faces - some in shame - others in horror that their Lord would be lead away like a common criminal to die - and for sins He had not even committed! Others along the way stared at Jesus and watched His every step -some where unbelievers just finding Jesus a crazed man who died for nothing - but truth be know JESUS saw everyone on that road and as I was saying yesterday - He could see into their hearts- many rejected Him as He crossed in front of them -some spit on Him -others mocked Him -the walk along was not easy -add to it a drained physical body and the weight of the cross - Jesus even stumbled a few times -He was rejected just like today's text says - He was also despised - those who scoffed at Jesus did not know HE was the Savior - they saw His miracles and still did not believe- Jesus went to the cross and beyond for those who hated Him - remarkable - nothing could or world stop this mission from being completed -all God's wrath fell on the Son - and He died - Jesus actually died - Some say He was in a coma - but I know He died - He was beaten all night - had nothing to eat or drink and was very worn out -dehydration set in - and blood gushed from His wounds - there were some who saw this sight and hid their faces - others pretend not to even know Him - is that like any of us? Do we still hide our faces when people ask us about JESUS?
Are we willing to live life for JESUS in the great wide open expanses of this thing called life - Lets not hide our faces from our Lord any longer - lets live lives that can look into HIS eyes without any shame! No more hidden faces!
