Turned To Righteousness

DANIEL 12:3
And they that be wise shall shine as brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars forever and ever!

Our mission now since Christ came into our lives and saved us is to preach the message - we are to do this not only with our words but more so with our actions - in doing this we have the opportunity given by God to bring many to Him - He has chosen to use us - I have to admit so many times I feel inadequate to do what He has called me to do - I want to hear those words when all is said and done - I want to hear the Lord make the statement of all statements - "Well done My good and faithful servant" what other words is there that we should want to hear - but it's not really about us at all - it's all about JESUS and HIS kingdom - imagine that today you can plant sees for God and He will take up the harvest one day - look around today - who do you see that needs to hear about the Lord? Who do you know that is living without the only thing worth living for - live it out loud for all of them to see - open your life up to JESUS and HE will use you - this is a guarantee - we don't become perfect or better then others when we serve Jesus - He just shines His light through our life - He is the One doing all the work - we just submit to Him and let His Spirit live it out through us - we have to put aside our needs and wants and allow God to have His way in our lives - many can be turned from death to righteousness and you can be the tool that God will use - we must be willing to do when God calls us - has God used you to plant the seeds of righteousness in those He has placed in your path? There is no greater time then this moment! Let God use you!

In Our Heart

ISAIAH 51:7
Harken unto Me, you that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is My law; fore not the reproach of men, neither be afraid of their revilings.

God's people have His law hidden in their hearts- by this it means that when He saves us - He puts His Spirit in us as well as His law - it's in our heart -
Jesus comes into our lives and changes everything - but it's a process that takes a lifetime - we must grow in our Christlikeness - with His law hidden in our hearts -we will live lives of obedience - this is not an option - if we allow Him to - He will live out of us - He will show the world His love through us - we are to be His hands and feet to this lost and dying world - all that is in our hearts - true our human nature is still around - and if we want we can live out of that - we have a choice - we can either live out of CHRIST or ourselves - when we put ourselves in God's place -there is always trouble to follow - God wants us to honor Him with our lives - He wants to use us to preach the lifestyle of Christ - not religion - but a lifestyle - a life drawn out of God's Spirit -
All this has been placed in our hearts by faith - what will you choose to live out of today? We have only two options! Honor God or dishonor Him - harsh reality - but we must think about it daily! Let's live out of our hearts!

Fly Away

PSALM 55:6
...And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove!
For then would I fly away, and be at rest!

Sometimes the troubles of this present life is too much for us to bear - and at times like that we just want to fly away - to be at peace - I have good news today - you can have peace and keep your feet on the ground - you can have peace no matter what happens in this life - peace is found in Jesus alone - the world will offer peace but it's not lasting - its temporal - and it always costs plenty - while sin is pleasurable for a season - there is always a steep payment - Jesus laid down His life to pay for it - that's what God thinks about sin - we are called to a life of obedience - it's not that we are earning our way to heaven - it's that we are honoring God but listening and obeying what He says - Jesus warned us we would have problems in this life - He told us that while the problems may seem to consume us - He has overcome the world - and since HE now lives in our hearts - we have peace - so really there is no need at all to fly away - keep your feet on the ground and look up - that's where our help comes from - Christ alone! Fly away? How about letting God soar in your hearts by faith! Amen!

The Sent

MALACHI 3:1
Behold, I will send My messenger, and he shall prepare the way before Me: and the LORD whom you seek, shall suddenly come to His temple, even the message of the covenant, whom you delight in; behold he shall come, says the Lord of hosts!

Today's passage talks of the forerunner of JESUS CHRIST -
this was none other then John the Baptist - Many thought John was the messiah - so John had a mission to let everyone know that he was not the one to come to deliver us from sin - but John was sent to prepare a way for JESUS - John's role was crucial - without John - who would have told those seeking the Messiah who to look for - John said many times that he must decrease while Christ must increase - once we know JESUS we all have a calling on our lives - the question is will we answer the call and become the sent? John had a mission and he performed it well - but he was not perfect -later in his life John questioned if JESUS was really the one - but this was not the end of the story - John knew without a shadow of doubt that JESUS was in fact the LORD - the one who was prophesied from old - John knew this with all his heart - but like all of us - sometimes John got his eyes off Jesus and on his circumstances - there is a lesson for all of us in this - remember JESUS is the only master we will ever need - let's only serve Him and be among those sent by His Spirit to bring this lost world to His saving grace!

We Know Love

1st JOHN 3:16
By this we know love, that He laid down His life for us!

We know love if we know JESUS! If we know the LORD and HE lives in our heart - then we cannot help but love - but if we don't love - maybe we need to check ourselves at the door to see if we really belong to JESUS - for when He lives in you - you cannot help but love others - it will come naturally because the old man has been destroyed on the cross of JESUS! If we ever question God's love for us - we don't need to look any further then the cross - once and for all it was settled - God sent JESUS HIS SON to die in our place - to bore sins He never committed - He came so far to save us - without His grace - without His blood there would be no hope at all for us - but praise be to God - JESUS was in perfect obedience to the Father and because of that we know love! God loved us before we ever knew Him - and He will love us forever more - even those who deny Him - He will always love - there is no one He created who He does not love - Love was shown to us on the cross - there is nothing else needed to prove His love for us - We know love because HE showed us what love is by laying His life down for us!
That's love - that's real unending love - love like no other!
We know love because we know JESUS!

JESUS DIDN'T JUST SAY HE LOVED US - HE SHOWED US!

Are you with Him?

LUKE 11:23
He that is not with Me is against Me:
and he that gathers not with Me scatters!

In today's verse there are some very tough words spoken by our Lord.
Jesus says in this passage that if you are not with HIM you are against HIM - and if you are not gathering with JESUS you are doing nothing more then scattering what God is doing - these words are not soft or Lilly for those who hear it - but it's the truth - it's the bottom line - many say they belong to Him but their lives may show otherwise - we can say it all we want - God wants us to actually live it - no lives are changed thought saying one thing and doing another - these are tough words to take - we must get to the point where JESUS means everything to us - sadly most of us are not yet there - we are struggle with things around us - things that actually most likely won't matter in a 100 years - but we consume our lives with stuff that really matters not. Jesus also said what does it profit a man to gain the whole world but to lose his soul? The answer is nothing - without Jesus our lives are completely meaningless -we are either following Him or we are not - there is no middle ground available at the foot of the cross - Jesus paid the price for us - He desires a personal relationship with us - and in case you have not noticed - we are all sinners - we are all the rejects to the world around us - but JESUS takes us in - He wipes the dirt off and makes us brand new! This is the gospel - Jesus coming to earth - living a perfect life and dying like a criminal for sins He never committed -
The question of this day is, Are you with Him?

Obey

COLOSSIANS 3:20
Children obey your parents in all things:
for this is well pleasing to the LORD!

God is pleased when we are obedient - I will say right here that when we are not God still loves us - He still wants us - He knows how much we need His saving grace - we all fail - we all miss the mark - we are all in this together - may we never get to the point of thinking we have arrived - because the truth is all of us are learning to be more and more like Jesus - one place that in today's world is effected is child rearing - I know many kids around me that God has called me to help - and I see a common thread among most of them - a very bad and unhealthy family life - you have heard it said before it all starts at home - and this is the truth - now I know I don't have any kids of my own - but I do see and hear things some don't - I know the needs of the children in my care and through Christ they can be met - the Father is to be the head of the household -this is a very unpopular view in the world of today - God has a perfect plan and man seems to always come behind God and try to do it his own way - leaving out what God meant for good - the problem we face today is a generation of children who have grown up and now have children of their own - and they never learned what it meant to really obey their parents - I will say many of this children of yesterday turned out just right into adulthood - but when they didn't receive all the love and nurturing they need growing up - how can they give that to their own children - as a nation we need to pray for families everywhere - the family as we know it is being attacked from both outside and inside - Tv plays a big role if making the family life much different then it should be - Parents are told to teach their children how to be productive adults one day - and with that they are shown what respect is and why parents must be obeyed - God is well pleased by obedience - teach your children well -
let them know they are loved and in return they will show you want being obedient looks like - God has a plan - let's stick to it! Amen!

Life Laid Down

JOHN 10:18
No man takes it (life) from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have the power to lay it down, and I have the power to take it again. This commandment I have received of My Father!

Me and my Brother-in-law Michael went to see a concert on Saturday night - we got so much more then a concert - we got a word from God! The man who preached that night talked about the fact that Jesus our Lord laid down His life for us - it was not taken away from Him - He willingly went to the cross - this changes how we look at what happened! Jesus knew the cost was high but He was willing to pay it - true He asked God the Father if there was any other way to save us - and God said no - Jesus came with this purpose in mind - He came to die for our sins - there was no fight against the Roman soldiers - there was no revenge taken by Jesus - He spoke not a word says the Word of God - Jesus could have called on many angels - but His mission would have been incomplete - Jesus laid His life down - He had to allow them to do what they did to Him - He had to deny His deity to become sin - to us this is strange but to Jesus it meant that God the Father had to turn His back on His Son - His innocent Son - Jesus became sin for us - This was a life laid down - willingly - Jesus knew what was to happen to Himself and nothing would stop Him from accomplishing His goal of saving all mankind - next time you think about JESUS remember His life was not taken by man - but was given for man!

Have Mercy!

LUKE 16:36
Be you therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

In this life you must choose the side in which you follow - there is no middle ground - we either worship JESUS or we don't - we either claim Him as Savior or we don't - we cannot be fence riders when it comes to the gospel. If we are following JESUS then we should begin to act and look like Him! If we have His Spirit inside of us - our lives should be changing! We are either children of God or of the devil - the world around us will call this crazy - but just because the world finds it odd -does not make it untrue - when we belong to the Father -we should be like Him - He is full of mercy and slow to anger - are we? Many times when someone hurts us - we want them to get it back ten fold - human nature always wants revenge - but God has said in HIS Word that it's His to defend - many times we get our hands all in the way and we make it harder then it has to be - since God is full of mercy - His people should be too - we should be the most forgiving of all people - we should not hold anything over anyone - we must be willing to go the extra mile and forgive them - sure it's not easy - and true our human side will always want to see those who hurt us suffer but the Spirit that guides us calls us to have mercy - is there someone you know right now that needs to be shown mercy - God may be calling you to be the one to show them His mercy - remember its never about us - always about Him!
We must have mercy on others - they need it and we have it!

Whatever You Do

...and whatever you do, do it heartily,
as to the LORD, and not unto men; ...

This life we now live once Jesus takes over our hearts should be like clay in hands of God -we should be moldable people - not a people that falls into the world's mold but into God's transforming mold - once in HIS hands - our lives should begin to radically change - the work we once did for men and for this world will soon take on the look of working for God - for everything He puts our hands to do - we should do it with all our might - it's not about serving man but God - when we help other's in JESUS' name it's really Him doing it through us - our lives were brought with a high price - Jesus died to give it to us! And all the old things have passed away - nothing of our old self remains - but we are still in the flesh and it will always war against the spirit until we leave this training place - all we do must be done with bringing God glory in mind - we must be focused on Christ at all times - for HE Is our all in all - Whatever we do - let's do it to honor our Lord Jesus! He gave us this life and then He gave us HIS Life - and now we have eternal life - we are just waiting here until our time to go home - none of us knows when that is - when God gives us another day - let's use it to bring Him glory - the closer and closer we get to JESUS the less and less like our old selves we will be - what are you gonna do today with God has given you? This is the question of our lives!

Show The Light

LUKE 11:33
No man when he has lighted a candle, puts it in a secret place, neither under a bush, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light.

Once Jesus comes into our lives and begins to change us, His light should begin to show through our lives - but the way I see this is like the Earth and the Sun - the Earth has no light of it's own - it all comes from the sun - in the same way the moon - it can only reflect the light from the sun - our lives in the hands of JESUS should begin to refelect the Son! I had a saying a while ago that was this - Stay in the Son - I believe we all need to stay in the Son each day - His life should change our lives day by day - each day we should be drawing closer and closer to Jesus - and when we do - His light will reflect in our lives and the world around us will see it and it will lead them to JESUS! We are not to hide what God has done in our lives - sadly many of us do just that - we hide it for fear of what others might think about us - but at the end of the day - it's all about JESUS and HIS glory - all we do should reflect His glory - let His light shine in your life today for all the world to see - be a reflector for JESUS!

Manna

JOHN 6:48
I AM that bread of Life!

Our Lord Jesus was constantly questioned the whole time He was among the religious leaders - they kept trying to trap Him and they took what He said and tried to use it against Him - this is to expected - but they could never trap Jesus - Jesus knew their hearts and always answered in such a way that they didn't have a leg to stand on - Jesus proclaimed He was God's Son and this sure made the religious very nervous - many were shocked when Jesus said what HE said - it should be noted that I have learned that in many places where you see Jesus speak - there is always the I AM there - you can see it in today's verse -that's because Jesus is God! This claim was what they used to crucify Jesus but it was not the men who did it - it was God allowing it - in today's verse Jesus says HE is the bread of life - to understand the meaning of this -we have to go back to the Israelites - they received manna (bread) from heaven every night for food - this was a gift from God and in the same way Jesus came from Heaven to Earth to feed us! He came to lay down His life - He came to paid the price - He came willingly with one mission in mind - to save us! He is the true bread from Heaven- the manna was just sign of things to come - God always seems to work that way - lets take and eat of the Bread that came down from heaven -taste and see that the LORD is good!
HE came so far to save us - receive this Living Bread and Living Water and you too can live forever!

Locked Doors

JOHN 20:19
Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors where shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in their midst, and said unto them "Peace be unto you"...

The 11 followers of Jesus Christ that remained after the Crucifixion where hiding out - Jesus had been murdered right in front of their eyes - and perhaps they believe the same would happen to them (well actually it did but much later) They where hiding - they were mourning - they wanted to be left alone in their misery - they had the doors closed - and I would gather they must have been locked as well - this hide out didn't last long - for someone got in anyway - no defense could keep this man out - Jesus was going to be seen by His followers they just didn't know it - Jesus can do the same with a closed off heart - He will keep on knocking and come on in if invited - but in this case Jesus just appeared before them and said Peace be with you - I cannot imagine this sight - Jesus back from the dead - after this meeting - there was no more hiding - these 11 men became bold witnesses to God - they went where Jesus commanded them to go - and because of their faith - we have come to know the same thing they knew - Yes JESUS was murdered for our sins - Yes He suffered and died - Yes HE was buried - but again the story did not end there - and neither does ours. Jesus rose from the grave and visited His followers this night - it was unexpected but what a joyful time! Jesus soon would leave and go back home - but just for a short stay for one day He is coming back - are you ready? Is your heart locked like the doors? Or is it wide open to JESUS and HIS grace?

HE IS NOT HERE!

MATTHEW 28:6
He is not here; for HE has risen. As He said.
Come and see the place where the Lord laid.

What awesome words to hear from the tomb of a friend who has passed on!
The women of this story where the first ones to the grave - they came not to find Jesus alive but to anoint His body - as was the tradition - when they got there they found a big surprise waiting for them. When they got there - Jesus was gone - their first thought was not that He had risen but that someone had stolen His body - how much like us are these women - God can tell us HE will do something but we have trouble believing - I have to admit that to me being in their position I would have done the same thing - I want my first reaction to be of faith but I have to be honest - many times I allow worry to come in and take some of my faith away - That is something I pray God will change in my life - When they saw the Angels there and heard them say that Jesus was not there but that He had risen! Today's devo is entitled HE is not here but the truth of the matter is JESUS is now with all those who call upon Him - He is with us - that day in the garden when they heard the best news of all time - JESUS who was dead is now alive again! Let's remember that JESUS now lives in our hearts but faith - He has promised always to be there with us!
So there is no need to worry! If you are looking for JESUS, He is closer then you think! Just a prayer away!

Requests

Phillipians 4:6
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by
prayer and supplication with thanksgiving
let your requests be made know to God!

Troubles will come into each of our lives - one way or another -we all will have to deal with various trials as long as we are here on the earth - trials are just a fact of life in the here and now - but one day when our time here is done -we will be going home - to the place being prepared for us at this very moment - but until that time - Paul says to be careful for nothing! To me this means we need to stress about all the things going on right now - but instead we must focus on what's to come - there has to be a balance in our lives -we must be willing to deal with earthly things from a heavenly perspective - the time we have here is short - we never know how long we have - this past week three teenagers lost their lives on the same stretch of road - lives snuffed out so early - it's hard to understand - but even in such hard times - we must present our requests to God - for He does hear us - sometimes the results we see down here is not what we want - but God sees it from heaven and to Him it's not the same thing we see with our earthly eyes - we must present our requests to God and then believe Him for the answers! We must have faith that HE does hear our cries - we must be willing to trust Him with our very lives!
He alone is faithful - bring all you need to God right now - He is waiting to hear from you - The throne room is now open to us -thanks be to God!

And (they) shall deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock and to scourge, and to crucify Him: and the third day HE shall RISE again! Amen!

PRAISE THE NAME OF THE LORD!
Brothers and Sisters in Christ
I am back to do another edition of Building on the Word -sorry it's so late - with my new meds I am on I have to get to bed earlier and after an awesome time at church and lunch out with friends and the enjoyable warm windy weather we have outside I am finally ready to proclaim ARISE!

As today's verse says plainly - JESUS was delivered up for us - HE came to this world to die - His mission was nothing more then death - He came to die - His mission was in view HIS whole life - HE went to the cross and then the grave for you and me - the cross was only two boards nailed together and on it's own could not save anyone - but when the LAMB was placed on that cross and HIS blood was shed for us - HE opened up Heaven for us! HE made a way that seemed closed so many years before - Jesus went through all the humiliation for you and me - He went to the grave on Friday - and was gone Saturday but as dawn began to break - JESUS AROSE! He came out of the grave -- defeated death and forever more sealed our deal of salvation! While sometimes things in our lives seem hopeless as they did on Good Friday - we waited a long Saturday to see the Son on Sunday! We have the greatest hope of all - JESUS went to the tomb, yes but that was not the end of the story - no He came out of that grave that early Sunday and proclaimed HE was the One we should follow - He took death head-on and never looked back - because He defeated death - we in Him shall as well - ALLOW GOD TO ARISE IN YOUR HEART TODAY - HE LOVES YOU - AND HE HAS ALREADY DONE ENOUGH TO PROVE IT - WHY NOT WALK WITH HIM TODAY - CELEBRATE JESUS TODAY!
JESUS IS NO LONGER IN THE GRAVE!!!!!!!!REJOICE!
PRAISE HIS NAME!HE WHO DIED HAS RISEN!
HE WHO PAID THE PRICE
FOR YOU AND ME
HAS COME TO SET US FREE
JESUS PRAISE YOUR NAME!ARISE!!!!!!!!!!

JESUS TOOK THE BEATINGS - HE TOOK THE NAILS - HE TOOK THE CHARGE TO DIE - HE WENT TO THE GRAVE - HE ROSE AGAIN!

OUR SINS PUT JESUS ON THE CROSSBUT HIS LOVE FOR US KEPT HIM THERE!
CHRIST - ROSE FROM THE DEAD SO WE COULD TOO!

A Fools Says...

Psalm 14:1
A fool says in his heart, there is no God....

Back in the 70's one of my favorite songs was by Michael McDonald called "What a fool believes" I am admitting my age right here today - guess that's foolish of me? Any how - Today's verse really sums up what a fool believes - they simply believe there is no God - and by doing so they believe they excuse themselves and are allowed to do whatever they want -that there is no right no wrong -things just are - these people God is clear are fools - for a fool says in his heart there is no God - yesterday we took a look at Romans 2:20 - in which we found that people who don't know God are without excuse - many this very day are on their way to hell - so sad but true - many deny the Lordship of Christ - many figure they have some plan worked out with the man upstairs - only a fool would dismiss God and say that we are just some accident -that life is meaningless - one day all of us will have to stand before the judgment seat of Christ - on that day those who put their trust in Jesus for salvation will be brought together to the Kingdom to live forever with God above - but sadly those who deny Him will spend forever alone without His grace - this is a sobering fact - it's foolish to think that we need to only worry about ourselves -there is a lost and dying world around us - are we presenting the gospel with our lives - this is important - lives are at stake - we have the truth -let's live it - and tell other's about this hope that we have - anything less would be foolish!
