THE WAY OF THE LORD

GOSPEL OF MARK-- ch5 vs25
...For he that has, to him shall be given; and he that has not, from him shall be taken away even which he has...

God's way is not like the way we often travel -we want the easy route - but sometimes God has a hard road for us so He can teach us a lesson - all because He loves us - its like when we were young and our parents had to take something away from us because we misbehaved -they did that because they loved us - there are many children that have no consequences but long for them - the way of the LORD Is much different then the way we want to travel- we want the ease -but HE wants us to grow - He wants us to know HIM completely and sometimes He must take things away from us - but we who know JESUS have all we need! This verse to me speaks of those who put their hope in the things of this world -they may have much in the eyes of the world -but they don't have Jesus so they really have nothing - we who have JESUS will be given eternal life -that means no matter what happens this side of Heaven -God will work it all out - I know personally several people who are very sick -things look grim - but they know JESUS and this softens the blow of their sickness- none of us have tomorrow guaranteed - but if you have JESUS you have all you need -all we need to do is to follow the way of the LORD -
He will always lead us in the right direction! If you have JESUS now - expect more soon - if you don't have JESUS - they even what you have now will one day be taken from you and you will have nothing -don't let this life end without knowing JESUS! This is the way of the LORD - its the way of forgiveness and love!

A SIDE NOTE:
The things of this world are passing away - and yet we try to hold on to them -all the while we should be storing our treasure in heaven!

HIS EXCELLENT NAME!

PSALM 8:9
O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth!

At the end of a very good Psalm - David has written a final statement for verse 9 of Chapter 8 - he simply ends this Psalm with the words of how Excellent God's name is in all the earth and it is - there is not a more excellent name than that of our Lord JESUS CHRIST! His name is above every other name and by HIS name people are saved and people are healed -we are a powerful people when filled with HIS Spirit and prayer spoken in His mighty name -we are HIS warriors in a world that has gone so far from the truth of God - this past week I had several instances of people denying God and His Word - several people said the same thing in a way - I read about this also in a book I just got called Beatitude written by Matthew Paul Turner - in this book he talks about meeting for the first time an atheist - and not knowing what to do - he tried to preach the gospel to them and was given laughs in return - everyone seemed against the gospel - and its true even our own hearts can turn away from God - but the bottom line is many do not believe in the name of JESUS CHRIST -many want to find their own way - this has been a pattern from the beginning of time all the way back in the garden - man wanted his own way and God gave us over to it - but has provided us a redeemer -JESUS CHRIST!
His name is excellent - His name is awesome - we praise the true God - not because we want to be right but because we admit HIS is right!
HIS NAME IS GLORIOUS - HIS NAME IS EXCELLENT IN ALL THE EARTH
Lets speak this truth today and always!
How great is YOUR NAME LORD!!!!!

one year ago today the frist blog was made on this blog site -God has been so faithful - and the WORD contiunes on - I will feature last years Devtional tomorrow as we praise and worship our LORD - I am so thankful God allows me to use this technology that HE came up with -and now in the WORD:

HOLD FAST

JOB 27:6
My righteousness I hold fast and will not let it go,
my heart shall not reproach me so long as I live!

We cannot deny the effect our upbringing has on us the rest of our lives- parents who do a good job are preparing their children for their lives - some who for whatever reason do not do a good job at this take away some of the good things other children receive- not to knock anyone -but single parents have a very hard time teaching their children all they need to know - but they try and when you raise your child in CHRIST and HIS values -when they are older they will not stray from the Lord - however even the best of upbringings do not guarantee that that child will stay on the right path - there may be many ups and downs - but deep inside the values that have been instilled in them will remain - I think of this when I read today's verse- Job says that he will hold fast to his righteousness -and he refuses to let go for anything else- He has claimed what is most important -the bottom line is Job is righteous only because God is righteous - our flesh is not righteous at all - we all fall short and all miss the mark - I don't care how long you have walked with the Lord -you can still be tempted and still fall into that temptation -God knew this that's why Jesus has to come in die in our place- paying our price and making us free - we must hold fast to this righteousness and never leave it behind - when you come to know Christ- He becomes your everything -He no longer becomes an acquaintance but an every day part of your life- God is not only to be worshipped on Sunday but every - lets be like Job (who by the way lost more then any of us will ever lose in this life) He held unto his faith - no matter his circumstances - he held fast to the LORD -He truly is our only hope! Praise HIM exalt HIM - He is worthy!

Our past may shape our future - but GOD holds it all in HIS hands - we were created to worship (wrote worship singer Chris Tomlin) Our mission if we so chose to take it is to live lives of worship and to hold fast to our faith - where GOD leads us we must follow!~

CARRIED OUR SORROWS

ISAIAH 53:4
Surely He has borne our grief and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted....

As I was reading today's verse this thought came to me almost immediately - I thought about those who crucified JESUS the very one that could save them -its just they did not know it -this problem is nothing new and is very prevalent today - I was watching WifeSwap last night - I don't really watch it all that much -but last night's show intrigued me - they had a family of atheists and a family of Born Again Christians and in the end the one comment that came up over and over again was the family who did not believe in God saying God aint real - they threw away the bibles they had been given and chose to walk the other way - in flat denial of God Almighty- how very sad it was - but there is always hope - this family said of the people at the church they were forced to go to showed them real love and it touched their heart -that is what is all about - sadly many still deny Jesus - I wish it were not so - I said all of that to remind everyone that sometimes Jesus shows up in the strangest of places - The man they killed was there to save their souls - their lives - but they did not know it - what a burden to carry - but JESUS was willing to carry it all - He carried our sorrows- our doubts where with Him as He hung there dying for our sins - He saw all that we would do - our failures and our victories - HE saw it all - and still went to the cross for you and me - He was willing to carry it all for us - up that long steep hill - He was willing to take all those steps to save our souls - in the world in which we live there are many sorrows - there are those who have lost loved ones - maybe an unborn child - divorce or unfaithfulness - there are some hard sorrows in this life -but JESUS carried them for us -HE has it all in HIS hands - HE paid the price for us and deemed us worth saving - we worship the LORD of LORDS who was willing to die in our place to take away our sins! That is what carrying our sorrows means - HE did it all and for that HE deserves our praise!
PRAISE THE NAME OF THE LORD!
FOR HE HAS CARRIED OUR SORROWS!

A SIDE NOTE:
Only JESUS can carry the sorrows of the world -HE was called the man of sorrows - HE bore them for us - HE took the sting from death and brought us everlasting life! GOD IS GOOD!

O Lord there is none like You, neither is there any other god beside You, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

In Today's world there are many different paths people feel will lead them to heaven - many have adopted this attitude of a little of this and a little of that -shake it up and whatever why it comes up - follow that- also in this day and age relativism is alive and well - many want to make their own way - or earn their own way apart from God -but I have to tell you -it won't work - because we all need a relationship with our Father God! He sent His one and only Son to this very planet with the sole purpose of dying for the sins of mankind - what arrogance many have to think they can work some other plan out with God and be ok - God made a way 2000 years ago - on a cross in a small part of the world- far fetched many might say? Well, the proof is alive and well today in every believer - and the truth of that there is really only way one - JESUS is the door all must go through to make it to heaven - its not by our merit -for we have none -its by what we own -for it will all be left behind - today's verse says that there is no god besides God! None - there is no other- there is no other name by which we can be saved but Jesus - He is the only ONE who can do it - only One way through JESUS is the way to the Father- many want to make their own way - many want God to simply take them because they have done many good deals -thus earning their way - God would not have had to send JESUS if we could make it on our own - there is no other god period - only our Father God! He was not created but has always been - He was before the beginning of time - and HE will be after time is gone - that's why HE called HIMSELF the GREAT I AM - for HE SIMPLY IS - THERE IS NO OTHER - PRAISE GOD!

A SIDE NOTE:
There is only one GOD and HE never changes - HE is the immovable ROCK! Praise our FATHER! He is the same today - and tomorrow as well as yesterday - Praise GOD!

SPEAK

PSALM 145:5
I will speak of the glorious honor of Your majesty, and of Your wondrous works....

There is a big difference between saying something and actually backing it up! Today's verse talks about the words we speak -What are we saying when we say what we say? Do our words build others up or tear them down? Do our words bring honor to our God? Do we say things to make ourselves look better? There is a lot of weight that goes behind what we say - but even more goes behind what we do - we can say this or that - but people will be able to see immediately if we really mean what we say - We should speak of our LORD everyday and in a praising way - We can be real with God - He knows what we are gonna say before we even say it - but at the same time - we must say things that are true and not listen to the lies of the enemy -he is there at every turn to make us fail - but we have the Spirit of God living within us - the temple of the Holy Spirit! What will the words we say today do tomorrow- how will people remember us - Will they see JESUS in us? We must be willing to speak the truth in love- there will be those along the path of life that are going the wrong way - and they need to know it - God wants us to speak - He has given us the gift of speech - and I know God wants to drive this point home -as He has been telling me about the things I say - I do not cuss but when I get mad I sure do get close - too close for comfort- that kind of speech has no place in our lives -but never forget the enemy is right there wanting us to make JESUS look bad - lets pray before we speak - so that what we say will bring honor to our Lord and Savior!
Lets speak the truth today and forevermore!

What we say reflects on what we really believe! If we don't follow what we say - people will see and will wonder if we are for real!
Jesus never minced HIS words! He always spoke the truth and was never ashamed of it! Amen!

Shackled Singing

ACTS 16:25-26
And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises un to God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the jail where shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone's hands were loosed. . .


Today's verse speaks about something we all struggle with - that is praising God when the chips are down- praising God when we don't feel like and at times not having even the energy to praise Him - we must praise Him - Jesus said the rocks would cry out if we did not praise Him - over this past weekend I got to go out and just pray - nothing special - but I was all alone and it was so peaceful - I met with God and it was a blessing - There are and will be times we won't want to praise God but its something we must do - not to gain any brownie points or anything - but to honor our Lord! Paul and Silas were in a bad place -things seem to be going totally wrong - it seemed like all hope was gone - but then all at once there problems left and God showed up! They prayed at the most inopportune time -- they should have done other things first many would say - but the truth is we must pray as our first defense - Paul and Silas not only praised the LORD but they sang too - and they sang loudly and proudly in a good way - they wanted the world to know they are just like you and me! They sang while in shakles-that is what I called some Shackled Singing -that is the secret Paul learned -being content no matter where you are or your circumstances- singing when it does not make scene and the world stands by and wonders what makes us tick - lets have our own Shackled Singing - lets go out and praise the LORD with all we have - let's not allow the chains of life to weight us down - lets sing with the shackles! Amen~!

A SIDE NOTE:
Life can be tough -but God is good - What HE can do is much better then what any one else can! Don't let the chains weight you down!!!!

A FATHER'S LOVE

GALATIANS 4:5&6
To redeem them that where under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying Abba, Father!

Today we celebrate Fathers - a Father is a special person - not just someone who brings a child into the world - a Father is someone who is always there for their children - a Father's love is like no other love- God is a Father so He knows what it means to be a Father- to take that role you must be willing to work at it - sacrifice - and be a witness to them - many are Father's who don't have kids that are their own - there are men who have stepped up to the plate and mentored young men - who have given their lives to make their lives better - a Father is a living example of God to us - The Spirit of God that indwells us at Salvation within us cries out ABBA FATHER - This is what God is called - our Father - He is our example - many men out there have not lived up to the role of Father- and for those men I pray today they will take their role seriously - that they will know what a powerful position they are in to effect the future generation - a Father's love embraces us - there is something very special about a Father's love -its not like a Mother's love -in its own way it can be even more important - not to take anything away from mothers and those who happen to be single parents and having to take on both roles - a Father should always be there and in a supportive role - a Father's job is never easy - its hard work - but if you follow the instruction of the Lord you will raise up young men and women who will become the Mother's and Father's of tomorrow- A father's love is important - why not call your Father today and thank him - or if you have not heard from him in a while - take that first step today - and let him know that you are thankful for him! God gave all us a gift of a Father and even if you don't have an earthly Father - HE will be your FATHER!
I praise the LORD for Fathers

Beautiful Feet

ISAIAH 52:7
How beautiful are the feet of him that brings good tidings, that publish peace; that brings good tidings of good, that publish salvation; that says unto Zion, your God reigns.


God calls those who spread the Gospel beautiful - He says that they have perdy feet (Said in my southern tongue!) But seriously - the feet of those who bring good news are beautiful to God - this takes action - the word is recieved and it must be passed on to others- our Pastors have beautiful feet - they spread the truth Sunday after Sunday - also missionaries across the globe have given their lives to serve others -to bring the good news to far off places - the feet are part of the whole process - Jesus also washed the Disciples feet as an example to us - during those times when there were not boats or tennis shoes -people wore sandals and the place was sandy - add the two together and you have a mess -feet got dirty walking -and these that brought the good news often traveled far and had dirty feet but God called their feet Beautiful! Because they were used to bring Glory to God - God has honored those feet- when we walk the path GOD has for us- our feet please Him - our feet carry us where we go - sometimes they take us to places God does not want us to go to - God uses our feet to bring us His way along the right path - are we using what God has given us to preach the gospel? Are we really following JESUS or our feet on their own? Just like our tongue leads the mouth - the feet lead the body - we take a step of faith by using our feet- we must step out and show the world we believe God - what are your feet being used to today? Would God call them beautiful?

A SIDE NOTE:
Our feet carry the whole weight our our bodies -if the feet are injured we cannot function right - the same is true of the WORD of GOD - we cannot keep it to ourselves but must bring it to others -lets use our feet for the Glory GOD! That is what beautiful feet is all about - following JESUS!

Give An Answer

PSALM 119:40-41
Let Your mercies come also to me, O Lord, even Your salvation, according to Your word. So shall I have the wherewith to answer him that reproaches me, for I trust in Your word!


The world around us is looking for answers - and we have the words of life -we have the answer they need - Jesus! The world around us is searching for answers to why we are here -for the purpose of life -some purpose that we are some cosmic accident -while others feel that we are just here for no purpose at all - no wonder the world sees things much differently then those who follow Christ- our purpose once we come to know JESUS is to live lives of worship of Him - when people who don't know Jesus look at our lives -what do they see? Are we presenting the real Jesus to them? Are we able to give an answer to where our hope lies -we must look different then the world -you cannot experience Christ and remain the same - we have an answer to give the world - and that answer is JESUS - He saved us and made us - He made everything -our attitude is much different and our view of the world is as well -those we deny God do not want to be accountable to anyone -its much easier for them to say their is no God then to actually be held accountable- the sad part is we will all face God one day - its sad for those who deny Christ- but it will be a most joyous day for God's children! There are people who say there are many roads home - but the word is clear- without Christ people are lost and are going to be separated from God forever in a place call hell - we who know JESUS know hell is a real place and a final place- lets live lives in full view of the world so that they will see we are different and they will ask us why and we will be able to give the right answer!

A SIDE NOTE:
Getting to Heaven is not a multiple choice - its either yes you're going or no you're not.

Joyful Strength

NEHEMIAH 8:10
Then he said unto them- Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared:
for this day is holy unto the Lord: neither be you sorry, for the joy of the Lord is your strength!

Many times we have it backwards in this world - we think the first should receive the most and the last the least- we believe those who are meek and mild are not going to be successful in this world -we have been also lead to believe that nice guys finish last -and that this is all there is -these are lies from the enemy of our souls -satans goal is to mess our witness up and lead those who are lost far away from Jesus - another area that is a struggle for us is the area of joy - we want to be happy at all costs it seems- we have medications for every thing that ails us -I am not saying its wrong to take medication -in many cases its a life or death issue and in some others its an issue of even functioning - but the world around us has a curse for everything - we should never be in pain the world says - we should always have things our way - the world has us believing this lie and many of us - me included has often been fooled by the enemy - today I want to talk about joyful strength - many feel we must be strong in and of ourselves - we must be self-sufficient and cannot depend on others -men especially have issue with relying on anyone but themselves - God wants us to place our hope- our very lives in HIS care - HE wants to take care of us - He wants to bring us joy - today's verse talks about joy being our strength - the joy God gives us keeps us strong in our faith -the thing about joy is that nothing can touch true joy in our hearts- there are no circumstances -nothing to can take away the joy of the Lord in our lives- many however confuse this joy with happiness - the fact is there is happiness in sin -but only for a season - we have to all admit we have been enticed to sin -I always say given the right set of circumstances all of us can sin - many times we want to point out faults in others -only to succumb to the same sin -once we know CHRIST we do not become sinless in our flesh -we can still sin -this is reality - Jesus saves our soul but our earthly bodies will not be redeemed -if you want joy - its in the Strength of the LORD - let HIM Lift your life up- He wants us to have joy that only HE can provide -HE did not make us to need anything but HIMSELF!

ONLY GOD CAN GIVE US PURE JOY! HIS JOY NEVER ENDS!

Can't Help But Preach

1st CORINTHIANS 9:16
For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of; for necessity is laid upon me; yea woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel.

Paul wrote these words to express his desire to preach the gospel - you see Paul was totally changed on that road to Damascus - he was never the same again and because of this change in his life- he wanted others to know this same JESUS that saved him! Paul said in an earlier letter that he would not glory in anything but the cross of Christ- he repeats this same sentiment in this verse- Paul does not want to glory in what he has done but only in what Christ had done and continued to do though his very life -when we come to know Jesus it is not enough to keep it to ourselves -oh sometimes it feels best to stay in our zones of comfort- but what kind of message are we sending the world around us - we must be urgent about the message of the gospel - its the good news that the lost and dying world around us must hear- when we see how good our Savior is -we want others to know His grace as well - we cannot keep silent when Jesus has done so much for us- He gave us His all -may we all get to the point where we can't help but preach the gospel - and it must be noted that the greatest witness is a life lived for Christ -not just mere words but like James said -we must be doers of the word not just hearers - we must present the gospel from the pulpit of our daily lives- there is no greater witness then our lives - is your life so that it preaches the gospel without you even trying? Or do you hide JESUS in your back pocket and bring Him out only when its safe? We must ask ourselves these tough questions -while the world around us searches for their own answers -we must show them that JESUS is the only answer-
We must be about God's business -we must spread the word - we must be like Paul and preach out of necessity -and out of pure worship of our Savior Jesus Christ- lets get to the point where we cannot help but preach the message of Christ every day -every hour and every moment!

Random-Ridiculous Rambleings #2

FELLOWSHIP:

Well this is my second entry of the week - Ive had a major sinus infection and have not really been doing much -which is a good thing as I've had extra time to pray -to see God's face - just what I needed! Amen! Due to my sickness I was not able to go to church on Sunday - I spent some time out of doors with my dog and read the WORD and Daily Bread and listened to some music on my mp3 player and this thought came to me -I feel God has something He wants to tell us:

The first thing I have to say is I am secure in WHAT CHRIST DID - its not about perfect church attendance- that does not save you - it cannot save you -its all about God's gift to us - that cannot be earned -but with that said God brought this to my attention -while going to CHURCH cannot save you -its a good thing - where else can you go with a group of people who serve the save Savior? In the world we are dispursed around - but in the church we are together and the truth be known we are in this together- and with these thoughts came the revelation that while this Ministry is important - it can never take the place of the church -you cannot replicate what the church can do - its all about serving our brothers and sisters in CHRIST - its by being involved with others- and you can do this in the church - many feel they can worship the LORD without Church and you can -but its so much better with others who believe what you believe and who will support you and have the common goal of serving CHRIST-
The CHURCH is GOD'S design and He wants us to be together in THIS - HE Wants us to love one another -if you don't go to church - why not try it this weekend? You may find that missing link that can set your faith on fire!

Random-Ridiculous Rambleings- 6/1/07

Drought
As I was driving home the other day I noticed all the brown fields out near were I live- we have not had any rain in the last month -wild fires are raging on the Ga/Al line and the smoke is heading our way and has covered the Tn Valley of Northern Alabama- its dry -to say the least - but as I drove and prayed - God placed this on my heart- that we are in a dought - but not from lack of rain - but from the lack of HIS SPIRIT -a friend of mine was talking about this spiritual dryness and I have to agree- God has allowded many to go their own way -to find their own way - God will give us over to our desires if that is what we want - as a nation we have largly turned our backs on God - to bring it down to a smaller level - the church has also given into this world's values - the spiritual dryness is effecting everything - what can be done? I know prayer is our first line of defence- we must pray for HIS SPIRIT to soak us - this drought is bad - but without HIS SPIRIT we cannot survive- oh sure we can live like this -but why? God is calling us to revival -and we must give all back to GOD! HE wants all of us - not just leftovers- I am speaking to myself as well as you - one compirmise leads to many more - this dought rages on - we must surrend to the RAIN OF THE SPIRIT - and THE REIGN OF GOD! Lets go back to our bedrock faith - more of these Random-Ridiculous Rambleings-tomorrow - Lets crave the refreshing LIVING WATERS! LORD RAIN YOUR SPIRIT DOWN ON US! amen -dtm<><

Random-Ridiculous Rambleings-

Hello everyone-
as you all know I am taking a break from Livin in the Word until at least June 11th -during my time off I feel lead to begin to blog my time off - God came to me this morning in my prayer time and gave me this silly name for this blog---its called Random-Ridiculous Rambleings- because some of the things I feel lead to write are off the wall -but none the less from God - He has a scence of humor - I will be back later today to begin this blog- my first entry will be about the dought- not the lack of rain but the lack of us walking in the SPIRIT of GOD!
Pray for me - I am already being refreshed from my time off -I did not let anyone know of this blog via email -my hopes is that you will stumble upon this and it will be something you need to read!
