IN OUR MIDST

ZEPHANIAH 3:17
The Lord your God in the midst of you is mighty; He will save, He will rejoice over you with joy, He will rent in His love;
He will joy over you with singing.

A friend has reminded me it is time to rise up - our time is limited -we do not have forever anymore -we do once we make it home - but right now the time is short with many leaving this world without the saving knowledge of Jesus - the enemy wants us to rest on our laurels - he wants us to miss the opportunity we have been given! God is in the midst of us - He said He inhabits the praises of HIS people - We are HIS body - His Church -we are HIS people - HIS children and HE is calling us to take a stand for HIM!
When we come to know CHRIST as LORD - HE fills us with HIS Spirit -we are never the same from that point on - and the closer we get to JESUS the more the enemy will try and take us out - look at the Body today - divorce is just as bad in the church as in the world -why? Prayer is an after thought to many of us - This should not be so - We must rise up now and honor God - Since HE lives in us - He is calling us - HE wants to use you today - you are HIS voice - we are HIS church -the Body - what function do you have? We all must have a purpose in CHRIST - as a nation we have turned our back on God - collectively God has taken a back seat -sadly even in HIS church! This again should not be so - JESUS is in our midst - HE saved us and He dwells in us - we have all we need - God is mighty in us - lets not let the weakness of our flesh get in the way of our service to God our Father-

I am going to be taking a 10 day break to go away and pray - I will be off from work and will not put out a devotional until June 11th at the Earliest- pray for me while I am gone - I pray God speaks to me and refreshes me -

A SIDE NOTE:
BECAUSE JESUS LIVES IN US - WE SHOULD LOOK LIKE HIM!

in CHRIST we have HIS SPIRIT to guide us!

THE MORNING

PSALM 130:6
My soul waits upon the Lord more then they that watch for the morning:
I say more then they that watch for the morning!

When I read this verse it reminds of several things- the first of which is living in the Southeastern part of the country -we get many stormy nights- some are so bad I just wait for the first glance of mornings light and the stormy night is over- there may be more storms but you can better prepare and see them coming -this is not so with the night -you can see lightening in the distance but its hard to gage since you don't have the black sky to tell you the storm is on your doorstep - it also reminds me of a scary dream ive had before -I am in the darkness and I hear the growling of a mean dog- but its so dark I cannot see it - I wait for the light before I move -this is what it is like to wait for the morning to come - a stormy night or a fearful time in the dark - Jesus is the light that we should be waiting on - He is coming back -and sooner and sooner as the days pass -we are one moment closer to HIS return right now then we were when I began to write this devotional- but are we anticipating His return? Or are we just procrastinating the work He has given us to do -saying to ourselves -He will not be here tomorrow - but the facts are we are not sure we will be here tomorrow- the morning comes but then the night comes once again -its a cycle - day and night - life and death - we all will have to face the physical death - but that's not the big issue -were we spend eternity is the big issue - lets wait for our LORD with eager anticipation -knowing that in the blink of the eye -HE could be here!
Lets wait - and wonder - and seek GOD'S face while its still called today!

A SIDE NOTE:
Lets face it - our lives here are very short- compared to what lies ahead - we have not been here that long - 20, 30, 40 , 50 , 60 years - still is very short- since we know we won't be here for long -lets make the most of it - today is the day that the LORD has made - we need to rejoice and be glad......

in CHRIST we wait with patience!

MEMORIAL DAY- REMEMBER

Matthew 5:16
Let your light shine before men, that they might see your good works, and glorify your Father in heaven!

Today we celebrate Memorial Day - a day set aside to remember those who have given their lives for the freedom of this great nation - their lives where laid on the line so that you and me could be free- they deemed it with it -we were worth it - they went bravely into battle- they did not want to go but knew it was the only way we could be free - Lets not forget all those who paid for our freedom -its not a right -but a privilege granted through the great sacrifice of others- One thing I do to celebrate my freedom is to live free- knowing full well that my very freedom might bring me death - there are those in the world that want nothing more then to destroy our great nation - they are not attacking from outside but from within -much like satan does -this enemy does not care if it must die to bring down our nation - they will stop at nothing to do that very thing - but one thing these terrorists did not count on was the resolve of our freedom fighters - our President has given them his full support and fight rages on - some question why have such a war- many call the brave acts of these brave men and women as a mistake - as not worth their sacrifice -they fail to under stand that all freedom comes with a high price- its never free- our freedom in CHRIST cost HIM His very life -He willingly went to the cross for you and me to liberate us from hell! JESUS came so that we should live -HE fought the battle for us and won - which brought us true freedom! Today many will just take the day of without even thinking about those who laid down their lives- that is very sad - there are brave men and women this very moment in danger - they have put their lives on the line- having signed up to give their lives away if necessary -lets not forget those far from home - those who are maybe away for the first time -the cost is great - but freedom is worth it!I SALUTE the brave men and women of our armed forces -I want to give you all a standing ovation! THANK YOU FOR DOING WHAT YOU DO!GOD BLESS AMERICA!
Lets celebrate our freedom today - remember those who gave their lives to secure our freedom! They gave all!~

American - America - God shines on thee - America America - the battle for freedom rages on and on - many have gone home - leaving their families behind - lets not let what they did be in vain -lets remember what it cost to make us free!

American-America - God shines HIS light on thee!

many are shining the light of God on those they battle with - these brave men and women have fought in the long hard battle and are not afraid of much at all- they share their faith by living it out loud! Thanks for the service to God, Family and Nation!

PRESS RELEASE: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MAY NO SOLDIER GO UNLOVED: BOOK 1
Pasadena, CA (May 30, 2007) – In the past four years, Soldiers' Angels has grown to become the country's largest military support non-profit organization. May No Soldier Go Unloved: Book 1, by Jeff Bader (272 pp, $19.95, presale at
www.angelsstore.org), chronicles the incredible journey of one woman's desire to help, and how that has drawn over 120,000 volunteers and millions of dollars to her cause.
Patti Patton Bader has the heart of Mother Teresa, the motivational mastership of Vince Lombardi, and the mobilization skills of Genghis Khan. She was raised an army brat; the great niece of the famous World War II General George S. Patton, daughter of decorated Vietnam Veteran Lt. Colonel David W. Patton, and brother of Iraqi War Veteran David Patton.
When her oldest son, Brandon, was sent to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom, in the spring of 2003, she decided to send him at least one care package a day and keep a blog of the events that occurred in Iraq and Afghanistan as an electronic scrapbook for Brandon when he returned.
What started out as a mother's small commitment to her son, soon turned into Soldiers' Angels. Assisting deployed troops around the world, Soldiers' Angels sends care packages and letters of encouragement to those in the field, provides first response backpacks and blankets of hope to the wounded, ships voice activated laptops to soldiers who have lost their arms, hands, or sight, and delivers "living trees" to the fallen hero's families who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.
Patti has received numerous awards and tons of letters of appreciation from soldiers, airmen, sailors, marines, family members, doctors, nurses, the Surgeon General of the Army, the Secretary of Defense, and the President of the United States. The Smithsonian Institute now hosts the same blog that Patti started years ago,
brandonblog.com, which is still updated daily.
Patti Patton Bader is a regular guest on numerous radio shows around the country, and the stories of her and other Soldiers' Angels' deeds and actions are published in local newspapers and magazines almost daily. Her newsletter alone raises several millions of dollars a year in donations. She takes not even one dime for compensation, and does all of this from her bed with a laptop computer, a big screen TV, and a cell phone.
Patti has Hepatitis C and fibrosis of the liver, and is often confined to her bed. She is in extreme pain most waking hours.
I should know… I'm her husband.
My wife is an amazing example of selflessness, patriotism, caring and dedication. Like an angel, she has anonymously and thanklessly touched the lives of many people she doesn't know. She works from the time she gets up in the early morning to the time she falls asleep from exhaustion late at night. Patti Patton Bader is a true American patriot. This is her story and the story of the founding of Soldiers' Angels.
May No Soldier Go Unloved: Book 1 , by Jeff Bader, is available at
www.angelsstore.org for $19.95. The first 1000 copies will be signed by the author, and by Patti Patton Bader. This is the first in a series of books to be published about Soldiers' Angels and its journey.

Suffering: part 8 of 10

2nd CORINTHIANS 12:9
. . .And He said to me, My grace is sufficient for you; for My strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities that the power of CHRIST may rest upon me!

The comfort God gives us is greater then our suffering . . .

When Paul asked God to remove his torn in the flesh- God's reply was no - HE would not do it - instead God said His grace was sufficient for Paul -it was enough - it was all he really needed - Paul had to suffer with whatever his torn was - and all of us have to suffer some time - none of us will escape it - I found it so interesting that today many people will pay any cost and do anything to have a pain free life - pain is not always a bad thing - and whatever pain we face- God's peace He gives us to us greater - His peace and His grace will keep us standing when we should fall down - God sustains us - He holds us up when we can no longer stand - God allows pain to show us that this is not our home - we are just passing through -everything here is temporary - we are going home soon.

As I went through my day yesterday - I had numerous problems- had to do a lot of work over because of an error and I was behind all day - I felt the Holy Spirit continue to tell me that I should consider it all joy just like Paul did - this is a very hard thing for us in the flesh- but with God all things are possible- lets remember all the trials we face each day where hand picked by God Himself - He knows what He is doing - our job is to trust Him - and in the end all things will work out according to HIS mighty will-
His grace is indeed sufficient for us! Rejoice in that!

A SIDE NOTE:
When we face trials - its an oppurtunity to show our depedance on God - Paul said to consider it all joy - and he also knew the secert of being content in all circumstances -nothing caused Paul grief because HE had God's grace and it was sufficent!

in CHRIST no trial is able to consume us!

Suffering: part 9 of 10

JOHN 12:25
He that loves his life shall lose it; and he that hates his life in this world shall keep into life eternal.

Pain loosens our grip on this life. . .

The trials of this life are reminders that this is not our home - Jesus said that if we love our lives- we will lose them but if we hate our lives we will gain much more in eternity - this verse is one of the most misunderstood of all scripture- next to the ones about hating your mother or father- sister or brother- we must look at the context- I don't think the Word says that we should hate our lives -we are to love life but we are not to be consumed with self- God did not make as alone - He made others and HE desires us to have relationships with them - We are to put Christ first in all we do - we must not get tied up in this life and miss eternity -this is a sin-filled evil world -apart from Christ we would all be lost for eternity - I say all this to say that trials a simply a fact of life - Jesus said we would have troubles and we do - sin causes death and one day we all have to pay the price and see our lives come to an end - it will happen one day to all of us - if you were born then you will die - unless of course Jesus returns to take us home - Our sufferings are designed to bring us closer to our Father God! We must not allow trials to make us bitter - but we must let them make us better! The trials should also cause us to loosen our grip on this world and the things in the this world - We cannot serve two masters so we must chose now who we will serve -pain is a fact of life- and God can use it to draw us to Himself -there is much we cannot understand - but God has proven Himself faithful!
He will complete the work in your life that needs to be done!
Just trust HIM today and forever more!

A SIDE NOTE:
If we refuse to accept what Christ has done on our behalf - He cannot help us at all - He has given us all a free will and He will not go against that - He longs for the day when every knee will bow and tounge confess!

in CHRIST the sufferings of this life bring us closer to GOD!

Suffering: part 10 of 10

GENSIS 50:20
But as for you, you thought evil against me; but God meant it for good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive...

God can turn suffering around for our good.....

We have come to the end of another series -this one was needed right now -as there is much suffering in this world - and personally ive suffered some and my wife has suffered some -and we have suffered together- this has been a very personal series - Jesus warned us we would have trouble in this life- for this world is evil -but in the midst of all that -God takes what the enemy ment for evil and brings good from it - sometimes this is very hard to see - when we are going through the storm -we cannot see God and we begin to doubt Him - its at such times we need to relax and believe God - He will bring good out of whatever it is we must go through -it may look very bad - but trust God - He is going to take a bad situation and make it for our good -and for HIS good will to come to pass - He has a goal and will take us through whatever mountians or valleys HE must to get us there -Jospeh was a prime example of what God can do - he was sold by his brothers into salery - and they thought it would be last time they saw him - but he would rule over them just as he revealed in his dream -this shocked his brothers and amazed his dad - God took a very bad thing and made it very good -and by doing it this way - God saved many people alive! God is not done with us yet -He has plans for us and a future -He has dreams for us that will come to pass if we would just trust HIM - our trials while bad at the moment are producing something far greater then our comfort - they are making us more and more like JESUS CHRIST -who faced many trials in His life - He gave all to save us - we serve a RISEN SAVIOR!
Let HIM lead you through the trials of this life and bring good from bad!

A SIDE NOTE:
JESUS NEVER SAID IT WOULD BE EASY TO FOLLOW HIM - BUT HE ALWAYS SAID IT WAS THE BEST WAY TO LIVE - HE IS THE WAY- THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE - WE MUST FOLLOW HIM THROUGH THE TRIALS OF THIS LIFE

in CHRIST the bad trials bring good results!

2nd CORINTHIANS 12:10
Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong!

In times of trouble, we find each other . . .

These words from Paul inspired by the Holy Spirit -give us a glemse into Paul's life- he suffered much for the cause of Christ but considered it all joy - he went so far as to say he took pleasure in the trials of life- when was the last time we took pleasure in some trial - as I have admitted time and time again - I am not very patient at times -its not that I don't have patience -since I believe once you are saved you begin to have the attributes of Christ- and one of those attributes is patience! Anyway - I like it when things go my way - when its smooth sailing - I do not like when things seem to go wrong - its hard with the flesh we must live with day in and day out - but we need to remember its not about us -God has a plan and it will come to past - period - we might as well submit to HIM because His way is always the best way -

Today is the Compassion International day of fasting and prayer for those with Cancer - this disease is claiming life after life - even with the good news of a decline in cancer deaths - there are many people I know personally who have either had this disease or currently fight it - just one look at the weekly Livin in Prayer and you will see the needs of those with cancer - I know personally of about 4 people who are cancer survivors - their doctors told them they would not make it this long and yet here they continue on - many outliving the doctors who told them their time was limited - you just never know when GOD is involved - Take some time today to pray for those you know with Cancer - this all falls right in line with suffering -many times it does not make any sense why our loved one or us are suffering from cancer -its difficult to image having this disease - it has to be tough - but GOD is still in the healing business - Pray that one day they can find a cure for cancer- today is set aside as a day of praying and fasting for those with cancer- won't you join the fight today on your knees? God will hear our cries-

The trials of this life will one day be gone - eternaity awaits us-
No matter what you are going through at the moment -God knows about it and God deeply cares about it - HE wants us to know HIM - that is HIS first and greatest goal - and He also wants to be glorified in our lives-
God be with those with cancer -those who seem to be on death row - know that we will be praying for you today -
God bless you
In Christ-

Suffering: part 6 of 10

1st PETER 2:21
For even hereunto were you called; because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps. . .

God suffers with us in our suffering:

The suffering that we do in this life we do not do alone - Jesus Christ our LORD had to suffer so that we could be saved -without His blood -there would be no hope - when we face trials of various kinds - we get to participate in the sufferings of Christ. However our sufferings cannot really be compared to His - He had to leave Heaven - none of us have been asked to do that -HE was asked to laid down HIS life for the sins of others- even if we would be willing to lay our lives down - our blood could not save anyone - we could not get anyone to heaven -not even ourselves - its all about JESUS and what HE did for us- He was willing to go to the cross for us - Think about the fact that just becoming a man was hard enough for the Creator of all things- imagine what it must have been like to suffer like JESUS did for us - our sufferings are there to produce Christ-likeness - its not an easy process - I know many times ive asked for the easy road - but that is usually not the road we have been called to travel - We all get lazy and we went instant gratification -we don't want to have to take the time to do things the right way - we just want them done - this attiude must not be in our walk with Christ -we must be willing to submit to God -whom someone noted to me during our final Bsf class of the year- God is always right -and most of us have trouble with somone who knows all and is never wrong! Its our flesh- God must allow certain things for us to go through to get the outcome HE desires -we are simply HIS workmanship -and HE will complete the work HE has begun in us - lets remember when we suffer - JESUS suffered first!

A SIDE NOTE:
No one will ecape the trials of life - its all in Who we trust to handle it - we cannot do it - only JESUS our LORD can - HE knows what its like to suffer - and HE knows what its like to be a man! Lets worship the LORD!

in CHRIST our sufferings produce holiness!

When the bottom falls out - who do you trust? When trials come our way we can choose who we trust- if we don't trust God in the good times - how can we trust HIM in the bad - and believe it or not -there will be some bad in our lives- how else can it be - since we live in a sin-filled fallen world -bad things happen -that's a fact of life -but if we know the ONE who created us and will sustain us through the problems -then we have nothing to fear -many times when things are going well - we drift along - we forget about our need for God so He must allow us to go through some temporary fire to bring us to point of dependence on HIM - the nation of Israel was the same way - they would confess their trust in GOD and when things got better they left Him - but when He turned up the heat -they came running back to Him - until the crisis was over- and then they went right back to their old ways - God wants us to trust HIM all the time - not just when the rug is pulled out from under us - I must confess here lately in this area I have failed - I have gotten upset with my circumstances and I end up taking it out on everyone - I should trust GOD more in this area - we all will face various trials on the way to become mature in Christ- Job faced things that not many of us have - he lost everything -well everything but God! Today's verse is how Job dealt with his circumstances -He knew the secret that Paul also knew - to be content no matter what happens - our relationship with CHRIST is constant - the trials come and go - allow the trials to draw you closer to God - HE is there!

WHEN YOU HAVE CHRIST - HE IS ALL YOU NEED!

in CHRIST the hard times bring us closer to GOD!

Suffering: part 4 of 10

ROMANS 8:18
For I reckon, that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

In this world there is much suffering -and all of it can be traced back to the introduction of sin into the world but Adam - one choice changed it all - but the truth be known God already knew what was about to take place- God is always ahead of us - we cannot see the whole picture like God can - HE sees it all - and all of it at once -to God there is no yesterday and there is no tomorrow and right now is forever to God - but where we see things and were we live is limited -even if you are nearly 40 years old - that's not that long - we have been here but a speak of time and we will then be gone one day - like it or not -we are leaving this place - which is not our home - we need to think about that -this is not our home - and yet we are comfortable here - this is really all we have known - and before that we don't remember- Today's verse says that the present trials are temporary and eternity is forever- Paul says that the present sufferings are passing by and one day really soon we will be home forever- Paul had a hard life in many ways - but at the same time a very blessed life -He knew what it meant to be satisfied in all circumstances -Because his hope was in the LORD not in himself or his circumstances - lets face it - bad things seem to happy to good people and the bad ones seem to be able to continue without any consequence- the truth is in the end its all about God anyway! We may be going through a very deep and very rocky valley right now - but it won't last forever - you may be at your wits end - but it won't last forever- we need to concentrate on the eternal - that is all that matters but sadly is the greatest thing ignored -
We will have trials so long as their is air in our lungs- but we also have the promises of GOD that HE will not forsake us - the trials of today will bring glory tomorrow - Praise the LORD!

A SIDE NOTE:
Trials are a fact of life - but they won't last forever- for eternity awaits God's children!

in CHRIST our earthly troubles are only temporary!

ARMED FORCES DAY
Fighting the fight by faith

ROMANS 8:35
Who shall seperate us from the love of GOD? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

As I begin my almost daily process of doing this devtional - I pray - I seek God's face and then I look into HIS word - tonight as I began I read through Romans a little and found this verse -and it is fitting -because our brave men and women have taken a pledge that could and many times will keep them from their loved ones- and its apporate to note that the scrafice of the family left behind is just a great as those who are on the front lines - but in a different way - all those called to war have given of theirselves for the freedom of our great land - Today is set aside to honor those who are in the armed services- many in my family have laid their lives on the line - my Father was in Korea - he was also injured in airborn training - he still hurts to this day from this - his bravery should be noted - My uncle Bob also served in the military - and many before them - My grandfather also served - He is gone now but he served this nation proud - there are many many more - from sea to shining sea- they gave their all to secure our freedom and to fight the good fight - the founders of this Country were willing to defend it - Our freedom is not free- it cost many dearly - but they deemed it worth it - our example to follow is GOD HIMSELF - Who sent HIS only SON to die in our place- God sent HIM to take upon HIMSELF our sins - His death brought us freedom from sin - Lets PRAISE the LORD for these brave souls that put their lives on the line day in and day out for our freedom and praise the LORD for HIS gift of salavation through JESUS the SON!

When you look up and see the Red , White and Blue
Bow a knee and pray -that is what you should do
with one hand on your heart and the other outstretched
serve your nation proud - praise the LORD loud!
Many left and have never came back
they laid thier lives down willing
to succure our freedom
The RED - the WHITE - the BLUE
God bless AMERICA and these brave soliders in all that they do
Leaving family -friends and church - reaching toward the goal-
When you see the Red. White and Blue
Bow a knee and pray for those in harms way
God bless America - and praise HIM daily!

Our brave warriors have paved the way for our freedom!
Thank a soilder or retired soldier today -
they paid the price!amen!

A SIDE NOTE:

Suffering: part 3 of 10

1st PETER 1:7
That the testing of your faith, being much more precious then gold that parishes, though it be tried by fire, might be found unto the praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ. . .

Like today's verse implies -what is hidden in our hearts will one day rise to the surface for all to see- and when we are found this way -we will be just like JESUS our LORD - Our lives should bring God glory now and forever more -its all about HIM and not about us! Sometimes God allows pain to reveal to us what is in our hearts- He does not do this for HIS benefit - since He already knows what's inside- He knows us better than anyone - for it was He that made us - our lives are HIS - it all belongs to HIM and is all from HIM and all of it is for HIM - When pain comes into our lives -what is hidden deep in our hearts comes out so we can see- sometime we see what we are actually lacking -and at other times we are surprises at just what is in our heart- things that should crush us - now only make us stronger- one thing I can relate this too is the weather here this spring -it was very warm far to early in the year and the trees - bushes and all the other flowers and plants all came out like it was time to leaf out - all the while a freeze was heading our way - many plants lost their battle with the freeze and died - some survived but are stunted - others that we also zapped by the freeze have come back better then ever -Ive been watching the process unfold - some of the plants are doing better then others- the freeze showed us the true character of each plant - the same is true of our spiritual lives -God must allow certain things to come into our lives in order for those things to be unlocked - so if you are going through a trial you don't understand right now -don't worry -one day it will all make sense - until then - lets keep looking up! hat is hidden deep within - will come out when tried by fire!

A SIDE NOTE:
There are things deeply hidden in our hearts that God uses trials to bring them out of us! Lets follow JESUS no matter where HE leads us - if we are with HIM we are always home! Home sweet home! amen!

in CHRIST the hidden things are revealed!

Suffering: part 2 of 10

PROVERBS 23:12
Apply your heart to understanding,
and your ears to the word of knowledge.

The following statement may sound strange -but I really believe its true - Pain in some cases is a very good thing! Our bodies where designed to have pain - pain warns us when something is wrong -its like an alarm system -sometimes we move the wrong way and our bodies respond -and we don't do it again -because the pain stops us - the same way with God - sometimes He must allow us to go through pain so we can see the errors of our ways - some may see this as a punishment and many cases it is - but sometimes its much more than that -its to teach us what we should and should not do - many times we make the wrong decision and it cost us much -but if we can learn from our mistakes -we can be better used for God's kingdom - He did not call the strong -He did not call the saintly of saints -HE called you and me - He called Paul -once a murder of the people of God - God chose Peter -who would deny HIS SON - God also chose David and he not only committed adultery but had the lady's husband killed to top it all of - but still was called a man after God's own heart- don't fail to see this message today -its not that what David - Peter or others have done is right -its that they learned from their mistakes! To be clear all these people went through intense pain -Paul listed many things he went through -he was ship-wrecked - beaten - whipped and place in prison - Peter had to live with his denial of Christ - and David must have felt agony when faced with what he had done - God uses pain to warn us - many times in my case and the case of others- we begin to find we are not as young as we used to be - and our muscles don't react like they used to - we get pain and we know its time to stop - Pain is not always a bad thing -there are people who cannot feel pain and end up hurting themselves without even knowing it - this is very dangerous - we must also look at the spiritual implications - the enemy of our soul wants to come in undetected - and wants to take over from within - sadly we let him walk right into our lives - but because of the Holy Spirit we can tell when he is leading us astray - we must stay in God's protective custody to remain safe and sound!Lets remember that the pain in our lives can be a very good thing - lets head God's warnings! Lets live the life for Christ Jesus our Lord!

Suffering part 1 of 10

GENESIS 2:15-17
And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man. saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may eat: but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall eat of it: for the day you eat it - you shall surely die.

Today we begin a new series - I am going to talk about the 10 reasons why God allows us HIS people to suffer- and the fact that if you are breathing you can and will suffer sometime in this life- lets go on and talk about why we suffer . . . one of the reasons we suffer is our own choices- many times we pick and chose what we want to do - and forget about the consequences - how many of you have gotten a new car? Or even a new used car? You know that you try and keep it looking good and running good - but there are unavoidable things that come with owning a car - and then someone crashes into you and its messed up - its not your fault but still its a reminder of the world in which we live -I am not sure how people live without God in their lives -who can they lean on - who do they believe created all this? The reason we suffer is our choices many times - sometimes we move ahead of God and make a choice- other times we simply have not asked Him if we are doing the right things- we do it and then pay the consequences - but God has a better way -when we submit to His authority - and listen to Him and make choices based on what HE says - we won't suffer as much - notice I did not see we would not suffer- because suffering is a part of life- it all begin in the Garden of Eden - Adam did not heed what God had said about eating from the one tree He forbid him to eat from - and he had to die - and now we all die in the flesh because of this one act of disobedience - we must be careful what we do - or we may suffer- of course sometimes we suffer because of our choices but because of the choices of others -tomorrow we will talk about the fact that Pain can be used to warn us of danger. . . stayed tuned!

A SIDE NOTE:
The pain we sometimes suffer is because we have ignored God's warnings and want to do whatever we want to do - when we do this - we should except to pay the price of our disobedience!

in CHRIST are trials have purpose!

perseverance-#6-where you lean

PROVERBS 3:5
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding...

We have come to the end of another series - I am not sure what is next - but the good thing is God does! Today we have a simple but profound statement! We are told to trust in the LORD with all our heart- with everything we have - in this world in which we live in this becomes increasing hard to do - we live in a world that flatly and completely denies Christ- we live in a society where what was once wrong has now become right and accepted -amongst that we must put our trust in the LORD - He wants it all - He does not like leftovers and He will not share us with anyone! We are also called to not lean on our own understanding -here again this world has raised us up to believe we must work it all our ourselves- we must pick up ourselves and do it on our own -ive heard it said that God will not put more on us then we can withstand - during my prayer time on my way home - I felt God tell me to go further then that statement- I believe that God at times must put more on us then we can handle alone - because HE wants us to trust HIM - He does not want us to do the work -HE wants us to rest in HIM - this is difficult in the world in which we live- This is God's reminder that apart from HIM we can do nothing (John 15:5) We must trust in the LORD and we must lean on HIM -
during the good and during the hard times -God is good and HE is faithful -HE will not lead us astray -lets trust HIM today and always!

A SIDE NOTE:
WHO YOU TRUST WILL DETERMINE WHO YOU FOLLOW - LETS FOLLOW THE ONE WHO SAVED US! JESUS THE CHRIST!

in CHRIST we can do all things but we need HIS help to do it!

ROMANS 11:33
O the debth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unserachable are HIS judgements and His ways past finding out!

I know all of you have seen the top lists of the richest people in the world -well God is the richest of all -for He owns it all - He knows it all- and without HIM none of this would even exist- we certainly would not be here and I would not be staying up late doing the work He has called me to do - but since its all HIS - then my life is is as well -and even the lives of those who don't even know Him - He owns the cattle on a thousands of hills - He knows more then any of us put together - Who can even fathum HIS riches as Paul has said in today's verse- this should cause us to perserver since we know the ONE who owns it all - He knows what He is doing - and has been doing it forever- how silly we are to tell God what to do - many think this is what prayer is - but that is not the case - God wants to hear from us each day - prayer substians us but opening up the doors of the throne room - sadly many of us -me inculded -fail to see how great this time is - we must come away from it all and simply worship HIM - He is our rock and our forturess- when we have HIM we need nothing else! Lets contiune in the work He has for us - until the day of HIS return!

perseverance-#3-His sheep

John 10:27-28
27: My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me:
28: and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand!

We as the people of God have been referred to as sheep -on the one hand this is a compliment- because as this verse says - the sheep know His voice- but on the other hand -sheep are not the smartest animals around -ive heard they will follow each other off a cliff - and all drown as they follower the leader- like sheep - we all need someone to follow-some are following the riches and cares of this world - others are following the Shepherd- Jesus Himself- who we follow effects how our lives will turn out - follow the wrong person - and we are lead astray - Jesus came to give us life -and He laid His life down for us - His sheep -and His sheep know His voice -how many of us take the time to listen? In our busy world in which we live -not much premium is placed on getting away from it all and just laying at the Master's feet - we get so busy we tend to forget just why we are here- our main focus should be listening to our Master - We are to follow Him all the days of our lives -and He will bring us peace- maybe you are going through a hard time right now- just stop and listen - JESUS is calling you right now - won't you take HIM at HIS word and follow Him to the place of quiet relief from this world - we all need some time away from the hustle and bustle of this dead end world - We have a much higher calling - to follow our Maker -the Master - Jesus Christ! HE will lead and we must follow - its not about us - its all about Him - He is our leader and He knows the way home - lets follow our Savior Home -one day we will leave this place- who are you following?

A SIDE NOTE:
WE MUST BE STILL AND LISTEN FOR THE SHEPHERD OF OUR SOULS - WE CANNOT FOLLOW HIM IF WE DON'T WAIT FOR HIS LEAD!

Romans 8:38-39
For I am persuaded, that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come. Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord!!!!

When Paul wrote these words he was not in very good place in the physical sense -but he was right where God wanted him - Paul spent a great deal of time in prison - not a goal any of us would choose for ourselves - Paul's crime was his insistence in not denying his Lord and Savior JESUS -and Paul went to his death praising the LORD because Paul knew the secret of life in the Lord- Paul's words ring true today- as in many parts of this world right now people are being killed because they will not deny Christ- just like Paul they knew the secret- Nothing could separate them from God's love- nothing - not even so call good things- and especially the bad things - Paul says nothing can separate us from His love -Jesus paid the price and HIS blood can cover all sins - but those who deny Him don't have such a coverage- and since nothing can take way God's love for us- we should be willing to put it all on the line for our Lord -sadly most of us - me included -play it safe -we make sure we are in line for any pain -we want a painless faith- we want an easy ride -but that is not how this is - Jesus warned His followers they would have trouble - But He also promised us the Comforter - the Holy Spirit- He did not make the road smooth for us - but He will give us the strength to persevere - He won't make our problems disappear but can and will use them to bring HIMSELF glory!
Lets endure the chains now - because eternity awaits!
Lets serve God with boldness -since nothing can take HIS love from us! Praise the LORD!

A SIDE NOTE:
Nothing you do can make GOD love your more or less- How God feels about you has been settled on the cross -HE was willing to die for you - and for you and for you!
Nothing can take us away from our SAVIOR! Nothing!
Through CHRIST we will persevere!

THE NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER 2007

PSALM 86:1-6
Bow down Your ear, O Lord, hear me: for I am poor and needy.
Preserve my soul; for I am holy: O You my God, save Your servant that trusts in You. Be merciful to me, O Lord: for I cry unto You daily.
Rejoice in the soul of Your servant: for unto You, O Lord, do I lift up
my soul. For You, Lord, are good and ready to forgive: and
plenteous in mercy unto all that call upon You. Give ear,
O Lord, to my prayer; and supplications.

I thought today I would just let God's word speak to you - nothing really to add - today is the National day of Prayer -a time set aside each year to pray for our country and its leaders -we are to join together in one accord - we are to come to God humbly in prayer - we are to present our requests to HIM and He will answer us -
Prayer is the fabric of our faith - we must daily go to God and pray - for without this time with HIM - how can we know HIM intimately? We must have a constant time of conversation each day with God - on this day won't you spend time in prayer for our Land - for our soldiers in far off lands - our leaders and those in office-
Its time to get on our knees- to be proactive by coming before the LORD-
Our Nation needs your prayers -lets go to God with our requests and seek HIS face and HIS will - God bless America -and God bless you! Let us pray!

Meet At City Hall on National Day of Prayer, 2007
"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord..." Psalms 33:12
Today I invite you to participate in
Meet At City Hall from 12:20 pm to 12:40 pm during the National Day Of Prayer. At thousands of city halls across the country, individuals will gather to pray for a moral rebirth in our country. The National Day of Prayer is an annual event established by an act of Congress which encourages Americans to pray for our nation, its people and its leaders.
Your participation in
Meet At City Hall is very simple. Simply show up at your local city hall at 12:20 pm on May 3. There will be others present. Spend the 20 minutes in prayer.
Let us unashamedly take our Light from underneath the basket and set it on a table.
Sincerely,
Donald E. Wildmon, Founder and Chairman
American Family Association
P.S. Please forward this e-mail message to your family and friends!
As American troops wage the War on Terror, fighting for democracy and liberty around the globe, citizens of the United States are preparing to celebrate their freedom to gather, worship and pray. Millions will answer the call to prayer on May 3rd in observance of the 56th annual National Day of Prayer (NDP). Organized events will be held in thousands of public venues where intercession will be made for our nation, government leaders, media, schools, churches, and families.
This year's theme, "
America, Unite in Prayer," is based on 2 Chronicles 7:14: "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." National Day of Prayer Task Force Chairman Shirley Dobson, wife of Focus on the Family founder and chairman Dr. James Dobson, said "At this crucial time in history, with our armed forces engaged in a desperate struggle in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere, we encourage all people of faith to set aside their differences and publicly seek God's wisdom and direction for those in harm's way and for our homes, communities and country. Our founding fathers recognized the power of prayer and gathered regularly to ask for God's blessing. We can do no less."
Esteemed author and pastor Dr. Charles Swindoll is the 2007 Honorary Chairman and will address the national NDP event in Washington, D.C., to be held at the Cannon House Office Building. To highlight this year's emphasis, Dr. Swindoll has released a new edition of his book, Intimacy with the Almighty, which provides personal insights to guide people on their journey of faith. In addition, gospel music sensations Ernie Haase and Signature Sound have recorded "I Pledge My Allegiance," NDP's stirring 2007 theme song.
Be part of this culture-changing event.
You can find encouraging and inspiring personal prayer resources and locate an event near you at
http://www.ndptf.org.
Thousands of prayer events will take place on May 3rd around the country, from Washington D.C. to Mount Rushmore to Hollywood. With your help, we will continue to witness God's faithful gathering across the nation and see lives, cities and ultimately, America changed for the better. America's heritage of faith will be restored, and a passion for prayer will be rekindled. The goal is larger than life - a God-sized goal - which can be accomplished through prayer.

Get Alone And PrayIn the message "The Courts of God" we saw how the presence of God is to be cherished above all else. We considered that not even a thousand days in an earthly paradise can compare to a single day in the presence of God. And yet, though we may understand the value of His presence, we seldom make the decisions or exercise the discipline required to enter.Luke 5:15-16"The news about Him spread all the more, so the crowds of people came to hear Him and to be healed of their sicknesses. But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed."Jesus had a relationship with the Father which can only be described as absolute perfection; "If you really knew Me, you would know My Father as well. Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father" (John 14:7,9). We long for and desperately seek the presence of God, but Jesus Christ IS the very presence of God: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us" (John 1:1,14).And though He had perfect union with the Father, created the entire Universe, and demonstrated complete control over the elements of nature as He "rebuked the wind and the raging waters" (Luke 8:24), Jesus still made time to be alone with the Father in prayer. Why?Prior to the important decision of choosing His twelve apostles, Jesus "went out to a mountainside and spent the night praying" (Luke 6:12). On the night before He was crucified, Jesus was in such anguish that He prayed until "His sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground" (Luke 22:44). Jesus, through His life and death, taught us how we ought to relate to God...and it's a lesson we must not ignore! If Jesus, who is Perfection, demonstrated such need of prayer, how much more necessary is it for us who contain so many flaws and so easily drift away from God. We cannot wave our hand to calm the storm, we must pray for patience and the strength to endure, and relentlessly ask for His help. We are to live in such constant communion with God that we "pray continually" (1 Thessalonians 5:17), even as we drive in busy traffic, manage multiple assignments, or care for noisy children. But each of us must also set aside time, which is "often" and regular, where we can withdraw to a quiet place. Yes, the presence of God can be found in the midst of our busyness, but we all need times of quiet where we can be refreshed and receive direction - times when we can simply lift our hearts to God and say "Thank You!" Let's develop and maintain the discipline of entering the courts of His presence. Let's regularly set aside times of quiet to get alone and pray.Have a Great Day!Steve TroxelGod's Daily Word Ministries*****************************************************Archive of previous devotions : http://www.gdwm.org/archive07.htmSubscribe/Unsubscribe by email to closerwalk@gdwm.orgSubscribe via web: http://www.gdwm.org/subscribe.htmFeedback and Prayer: http://gdwmboard.org/6/ubb.xSend Invitation: http://www.gdwm.org/invite.htmVerses and Psalms: http://www.gdwm.org/versesSpanish Devotions: http://www.gdwm.org/spanishMail from GDWM is only sent to those who subscribe (free of cost) orby invitation from friends. grace-final-#12-don't know they are lost. . .

HEBREWS 10:29
Of how much sorer punishment, suppose you, shall he be thought worthy, who has trodden under foot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith He was sanctified, an unholy thing, and has done despite unto the Spirit of Grace?

Today is the final day of this series on Grace- on Friday we move on to Perseverance -and that is the last part of this series - be in prayer for me as I seek God and what to do after this next series! Thanks!

Today's verse is markedly different from all the others that dealt with grace- today's verse deals with people who deny Christ- me and my wife last year had an up close and personal dealing with this - God called us to go to this movie that was sponsored by the freethinkers society and the whole point of the film was to make a mockery of our Lord - it was hard to watch but God wanted us to speak the truth to those around us -we felt lead to say that the movie was trash and that God was ready to love all of them - we ended up just having words with the atheistic leader- Blair -whom you have seen requests for salvation- when confronted him on his need for JESUS and his response was that he did not need Jesus nor want Jesus -how very sad - there are people today in this world - in your town who not only deny Christ- they do so very openly - today people will parish without Jesus as their Savior - and its not always because no one told them -its more that they knew it was the way but did not want to submit to God and did not want to go HIS way but theirs - and sadly God must let them go as HE has given us a free will - please pray today for those lost people who don't even know they are lost-
Grace comes from God to us - none of us deserve it - good behavior did not bring it to us - our goodness did not either- only JESUS' death on the cross opened the door of heaven to us - we now have HIS grace within us - lets spread this grace to the world around us!
Lets praise God with our lives!

A SIDE NOTE:
In order for GOD to save us - HE must show us that we are lost -once this happens its up to us to respond to God - He wants all saved - but HE also has given us a free will -lets use it for HIS glory instead of our own! Amen!
Through CHRIST we find we are lost and then HE saves us!

grace-part-11-God's Outstretched Hands

ISAIAH 65:2
I have spread out My hands all the day to a rebellious people, which walk in a way that was not good, after their own thoughts. . .

We are beginning May just like we ended April - in the subject of Grace! I begin with a question - How far does God's hands reach? The answer is found in HIS word - in several places the writers of God's word - have mentioned that God's hands have been stretched out to His people - even to those who deny Him -those who want nothing to do with Him and those that go their own way - Many in this day and age want to be totally self-sufficient - look at it this way - now you can order your meals online - pay your bills online - you can watch Tv via Tebo and the truth is many don't even have to leave their homes - there is a lot less interaction these days as people retreat to their own little worlds - all the while ignoring God with all their possessions and noise - God still has HIS arms reached out to us - we have gone astray - the WORD says - each of us to our own needs -we look out for #1 and anyone else must get in line - we will do first for ourselves then we worry about others -this is a tough pill to swallow - many doubt their need for God - after all they feel and think they have all they need -But amazingly enough God still stretched out HIS hand to the Israelites and He does still even today -HE is longing for many more to come to know HIM before HE parts that Eastern Sky - He is waiting for jus the right time - His grace is found in those outstretched hands - He wants to hold you -won't you allow HIM to take your life and use it for HIS glory - that's what grace is all about - we all need God - we need Him more every moment -for each day is one day closer to HIS return -lets be ready for His arrival! Lets remember HIS outstretched hands of love and of Grace!

A SIDE NOTE:
God is powerful enough to reach through Time - He knows what we are going to do before we even think of doing it - but HE has allowed us to make our own choise for or against HIM -still HIS arms have reached down to save us - let's reach up so HE can take us and save us!
Through CHRIST God's hands are stretched toward us!
