Pointing To Him

John 6:39
Search the scriptures; for in them you think you have eternal life:
And they are they which testify of me.

This ministry is called Livin in the Word for a reason - its not living in the Bible -its just about this Holy Inspired Book - but its about Who it points to - JESUS - We are to live in JESUS and HE is us...but the WORD of GOD points us toward JESUS - from page 1 to the end of Genesis - its all a picture of God's love for us - Ive heard the Bible called God's love letter - and it is - but its so much more - we can get an accurate picture of just who JESUS is - the stories are rich and they have been used to bring many to saving faith - but just knowing the Bible is not enough to save you -for you must know the Author- JESUS CHRIST. Without real heart knowledge its not going to save you at all - we can have all the answers floating around in our head - but without it getting to our heart -its not going to bring about saving faith - oh sure it will point us toward JESUS - but it also takes the Holy Spirit to draw us. Lets remember while the Bible is from God - that the true WORD is really JESUS! Lets live in this WORD!
He came and laid down HIS life so we could live - this is the only way to eternal life - not just by reading - you must apply it and you must believe!

a side note: It must be stated that the enemy of our souls knows the word of God very well - for he used to to tempt JESUS - lets not fail to see the truth that we must not only know the WORD we must live in the WORD!
in CHRIST the WORD is alive!

Put It Away

Epheisans 4:31-32
Let all bitterness and wrath and anger, and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: and be kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake has forgiven you!

In the heart of a Christ-follower there is no room for bitterness, but we all know we have the flesh to contend with and the flesh wants what it wants when it wants it - and will do whatever it takes to get what it wants -it seems to never rest - the truth is our Spirit is right there with our flesh - while the Spirit of God that is now in our hearts as Christ-followers wants to only please God- our ol flesh wants to please self -this is the bottom line and its a problem we all have- with that state of heart - when someone does something that hurts us or harms us in anyway - we get bitter -we want to get back - but Paul says we should put that away - another words it not needed and it won't ever help any given situation get better -if we stoop to the level of our attacker -we are no better then they are - if we return evil for evil -what reward do we have! I know its hard when someone hurts you - I know it a daily struggle to forgive and forget- and we cannot humanly do it - it takes the Spirit of God to show us how to do this - We have two choices - we can either get caught up in our hurt feelings and get resentful and then bitter or we can use whatever the circumstance as a spring board to draw us closer to Christ -after all He knows what betrayal is like - He knows what it is like to be done wrong - but He also shows us by example that we should love those who want to harm us - our minds cannot comprehend such talk - but in the Spirit of the Risen Lord -we have the power to love our enemies - to do good to those who mean us harm - for in the end God's will - will be done! We must put away anything that hinders our relationship with Christ- we must remember that HE is on the throne - not us - not our flesh - not our desires but GOD alone! Lets just put it away and serve Christ totally!

a side note: Just as sin leads to death - un holy anger can lead to murder. We need to think about our actions BEFORE we do them to see what effect they will have on others. Lets put all the bad things away and focus on the good!
in CHRIST we can put away our anger for others!

Reach

Philippians 3:13-14
Brethren, I count not myself as to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before.
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus!

Many of us have the same problem - we spend so much time looking back -we miss the now and cannot see tomorrow. We got stuck in a rout and we cannot seem to get the wheels of our lives out of it. I heard a quote last night at Renown -this is a forum of Christian's that gather together to learn from each other - the quote was from Helen Keller - "When one door closes, another one opens, but some people are so focused on the closed door -they cannot move beyond it" - This goes along with today's verse.
Paul was reaching toward the high prize of Christ- this was his goal - to reach forward and forget the past - many of us won't let the past go - I am suffering as I have said - one of the greatest trials of my life right now -those things I used to depend on - have been taken away - what I put too much trust in has been taken away. but what I have left is much better then what I had! Praise God - I am seeing that I must reach forward and get beyond my hurt - get beyond the events that have effected me and reach toward Christ - I want to be able to use my trial to help others -and not only that - to bring them to the saving faith through Christ! We cannot allow ourselves to get bogged down with yesterday's news -today is a new day - a fresh new start- lets be like Paul and reach forward - not back - while Christ was Crucified in the past - the effects are present with us daily - lets forget all that may or may not have happened too us - and reach toward the goal that God has for your life! Reach for it! Obtain it through Christ!

a side note: Leave the past right where it belongs- in the past!
in CHRIST we begin to reach forward!~

Worthless

Philippians 3:8
Yea Doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win CHRIST!

We live a world that is chock full of sin - Sin is everywhere you look -we need to forget who rules this world full of flesh - the enemy - God has given the enemy some dominion here on Earth -many will find such a statement as false - but its true - its everywhere you look -we who know Christ are strangers in the strange land - Paul would agree - he says he suffered the loss of things but considered those things worthless compared to the salvational knowledge of Christ his Lord!
We can get so engrossed with this world - our needs -and our wants we begin to miss the point - we begin to miss the whole reason we are here -to glorify God with our lives! We are not here to be comfortable - but yet most of us want an easy life without any trials - and some so-called Christians would say if you are having problems its because you are not close to Christ- this is not true - I have served Christ for about 9 years in this ministry and have witnessed to countless people and yet right now I have the trial of my life right before me - and I am not alone - Rick, a radio host who just lost his 2 year old son -preached the gospel during the funeral service and then a local radio station played the whole thing - Rick said that all the stuff we have here is worthless - its not worth all we put in it - how we worry about it all - what's most important is our relationship with Jesus Christ and how we serve Him - are we so worried about what we want - we miss out in serving Christ in His purpose for our lives- lets spread the gospel - lets remember that just because we have trials does not mean we are not in God's will -this month's topic seems to be suffering - we need not forget who suffered the most for us - Jesus - He died for sins he never committed! He did this for us! Lets remember that this stuff here is worthless and our salvation is priceless! Lets be like Paul and consider all the problems of this present time as nothing but worthless! God can use it all to bring about His glory! Praise HIM!

a side note: We put too much value on worthless things!
in CHRIST we can see what is of value!

Crucified With Christ

Galatians 2:20
I am crucified with Christ:
nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me!

In this life there is going to be problems -none of us will escape the trials of this life- Jesus warned us that problems and trials would come - its just a matter of when and when we go through the storms of life - how we navigate them and who we follow is the most important thing - I know this week alone - there are at least four people I know who are very sick - its discouraging - and then Ive heard about someone who lost their 2 year old son - sad stories of real people - real trials and there seems to be no easy answer to why - we all live in the same sin filled world -we all have choices we make each day - some will be right - others will be wrong - but God will work it all out - We must realize that this ol world is just passing away - the things we think we "own" are not really ours at all -this includes our lives - once we belong to God - we lose our old self and put on the new man - Its no longer our life - many of us have gotten caught up in the martialistic world - many of us have done well in our jobs - our marriages - and children - but none of those belong to us any longer -they never did - this is not our home - and yet we strive to stay here! This world and the things in it are passing away - there comes a time when we need to give our lives to something important - there is nothing more important then our relationship with God - we have been crucified with Christ and yet we live- but we don't live like the lost world who has no hope - no we have abundant hope - like I have been saying -this past month has been some of the hardest times of my life - and yet yesterday I was happy to be alive -happy to be in the hands of God - the point is its not my life - it belongs to Him - He saved me - He has taken my sin and cast it as far as the East is from the West- when He comes on the scene everything changes - He brought us at a high price - His very life-
Have you been crucified with Christ? Or do you just live to yourself?

a side note: We either belong to God or the enemy - there is no middle ground - examine your heart today - do you really know the Truth that JESUS is the Savior?
in CHRIST our old self has been put to death!

One

Galatians 3:28
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for you are all one in CHRIST JESUS!

In all the excitement of returning to Livin in the Word - I forgot what day it was!
it was Martin Luther King Day....so today I was searching for a verse that would relate to the dream Dr King had for humanity -that all men would stand together - no matter what race or color - nationality or faith - that racism would die a quick death -the dream is still alive today - but at the same time there is still much racism across the world even today - in many nations of the world today people are being killed because they will not deny Christ- other are being killed for the color of their skin - Dr King had a dream and though the dream is not yet realized - its good to have such dream - I think he knew that only GOD could do what was in this dream - only God can bind us together in Christ -and in Him we are all one - it does not matter our age -our race - our nationality -Christ died for all - He left no limit on it but to believe on Him - together we are all one - all on the same level with God when we know His only Son -
Jesus died for all -and for all sins - not just ours - many times we being to take ownership of the Gospel - when its not ours at all - it belong to God and who can be saved is unlimited - just as Dr King had a dream - we who are in Christ also have a dream -we long for the day when Christ comes back to claim His own - all tears will be stopped and death will be no more - Lets remember both of these dreams - that we are one in Christ - that it only matters that we have faith -nothing more nothing less -
God made all men - and He gave them all a soul - why not try today to look at our similarities and not our differences - we are all the same in CHRIST!
Do you also have a dream? Live it today out loud! amen!

a side note: We are all free in CHRIST!
in CHRIST we are all one!

LIVIN IN THE WORD - TUESDAY - 1-22-08
WHAT DREAMS HAS GOD GIVEN YOU?

1-21-08<><

The Daily Blueprint for 1-21-08

That's All

1st Corinthians 2:2
For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and Him crucified!

I glad to be back! I took a much needed 2 week break and now I am back - I have to say these past two weeks have been some of the hardest in my life- not because I was away from the ministry but because of things going on in my personal life- when I felt lead to take this break - I did not know of the trouble I would be facing - I hope to share more with all of you soon - but I will just say to please pray for me - and my family at this time - God is working it all out - but I still rely on the prayers of the saints - as I was in church today I was thinking about what verse should I use to come back to the ministry and the words above by Paul rang so true with me....so that's where Livin in the Word we begin again!

Paul made it simple -and far too often we make it too complicated - we have many fancy words we use in the faith world of Christianity and sometime we don't even know what some of the words mean - Paul just desired only to know CHRIST and Him crucified - today I was helping a friend of me and my wife's - she is a young lady of 17 years old - she has received Christ and is saved but have many questions - and God used this verse for me to tell her that she does not have to figure it all out - its in God's hands and its all about faith - As I have gone through this trial in my life - I can see that some things I depended on have been taken away - stripped away and all I have now is my faith! Praise God - its through the trials of our lives that we get to that point - We must build only upon our Lord Jesus Christ and Him alone -that's all - if we build on anything else - and put our hope in anything else- we will be let down - because the things -the people - the stuff of this world will one day pass away - if we put our hope in the wrong thing -it will leave us without help - One thing I am learning is that my faith is more real now then ever before - I have been stripped down to the foundation - that is Christ- so all I want to know now is CHRIST and Him Crucified - Lets not forget what CHRIST has done for us -He became a curse for us - He laid down His life so we would be saved - and safe in His arms - maybe you are going through something right now that seems to want take your faith away - just hold fast to Christ -in essence He is actually holding unto us - lets make sure we do have the grace of God in our lives because when the trials are come -you will be prepared!I end with this - I would not choose to go through my trial if I had a choice - but I really don't God has a plan and purpose in everything He allows to happen! All things work together for God says Romans 8:28! When all is said and done - all we really have is our faith in Christ- that's all!

a side note: What would you have if it was all stripped away?
in CHRIST we have Grace and that's all we need!

LIVIN IN THE WORD - MONDAY - 1-21-08
WHEN ALL IS TAKEN AWAY - WE STILL HAVE OUR FAITH!

1/05/2008

The Daily Blueprint for 1-5-08
BRAND NEW: A NEW YEAR - A NEW START
part 6
Romans 7:6
But now we are discharged from the law, dead to that which held us captive, so that we serve not under the old written code but in the NEW life of the Spirit!
Once you come to know the truth that Jesus is Lord- your life forever changes- you no longer see the Law as a list of rules to keep –but the measuring stick by which all will be measured- all of us have sinned and have fallen short of this standard – none of us on our own can keep the Law – but the new convenant that came to us through Christ covers our imperfections in His blood. We are no longer held captive by rules but instead by love –we obey God out of love and worship not just because He has kept us from hell – we should keep the law not by our power but by His Spirit –we are made brand new in Christ –the old has passed away – and God says behold all things have become new! While this new year is but 5 days old –I am sure all of us already have done things we should not have – I am not saying its ok to do what you want – I am however saying that when we are in Christ –we are made perfect through His grace not our works – Its agreed that without works our faith is dead – that’s so true – but those works cannot and never will save anyone –we can do it all right (Althought it won’t happen in our flesh) and still miss the mark –its not about keeping the letter of the law but the spirit of the law by Christ. We cannot please God without faith – and without His Spirit we are held captive under the old law - lets live in the Newness of God’s Spirit and do what is needed by HIS power not our own – the religious leaders of Jesus day claimed they kept the whole law – they did not – they also made up new requirements that God never intended- Lets be renewed in our relationship with Christ- Lets be brand new now and forever!
a side note: Without the Law how could we know where we stood with God? The Law shows us that we cannot please God on our own – it takes the blood of CHRIST to do that –where do you stand?
In CHRIST the old is gone and the new has come!

BRAND NEW: A NEW YEAR - A NEW START
part 5

Revelation 21:5
And He that sat on the throne said, Behold I make all things new. And He said unto me. Write: for these words are true and faithful.

I had thought I would be done with Brand New yesterday - but ive enjoyed this series so much I am going to extend it till Friday! Today's verse talks about how GOD will make all things new! He will make the old broken down new again! He will bring those who our outside HIS grace in - His desire is for all to come to know Him and be saved -that's God's ultimate desire -that is the reason Jesus Christ came to die for the sins of mankind - He is the only way back to the Father - Behold HE will make all things new - this world we live in is passing away - the thought last night during my prayer time on my way home is that the only thing that will last past this lifetime is our soul - that's it - none of the stuff we aquire will go with us - not even our earthly bodies -God is going to make all things new - Jesus is coming back - no one but the Father knows when -but when He does - He will set our the wrong right -He will take away the oppression of this world -HE will put to rest the brokeness of this world - with broken relationships and torn up lives - one day very soon its gonna be ok! God is in full and complete control and will make all things new! This new year let God make all things new in your life! He is in the business of restoration! Praise GOD!

a side note: One day all we know will pass away and all that will be left is God and those who know Him now will be with Him forever then!
in CHRIST all things will be made new!

1-2-08 BRAND NEW part 4

The Daily Blueprint for 1-2-08

BRAND NEW: A NEW YEAR - A NEW START
part 4

Ephesians 4:22-24
...That you put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; and be renewed in the spirit of your mind: And that you put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

The first day of 2008 is now completed - do you feel like anything has changed? Its really hard to gage much with just 24 hours of 2008 being completed. It hard to tell what the year has for us in the other 364 days we have left - but I do know this - I had a most blessed time in God's word this morning - I must confess I have not read the Word as much as I should in 2007 and it hurt me in many ways - so I made it a point to being 2008 in the Word and in much prayer - and God revealed much to me in just one day! Praise God - one thing is I am going to take a much needed break from the ministry to recharge and seek God more closely - God has done so many amazing things in 2007 and I look forward to what He has planned for this brand new year!

Paul tells us to put on the new man - which is Christ- we must put on the new man in order to live forever with Him - and to have our sins taken away - for if we stay in the old flesh -the unredeemed flesh -we have no hope any long - if we live to ourselves -we cannot also please God - we must make a choice to put on the new man! The old man is just passing away - actually he is already dead in his sins - but the new man is a live now that we have come to know Jesus the Lord! We have put on the new man and the old corruption is now gone - the old man is dead! Praise God - but while we live in this world we will have the flesh we must contend with - at any moment we can go right back to living like we did before we knew Christ if we don't have an intimate relationship with Him - I have seen many walk away from Christ and that breaks my heart - but the good news in Christ is at any moment they can once again put on the new man! Lets make it point to walk in the new man - to ware the new clothes of salvation - maybe your faith has gotten stale - maybe you don't know Christ like you should - there is always hope- today you can be brand new once again -just put on CHRIST and you will be good as new!

a side note: Christ came so that we could be brand new in HIM!
in CHRIST our old clothes have traded for new clothes!

LIVIN IN THE WORD - WEDNESDAY - 1-1-08
NEWS FLASH: CHRIST WILL CHANGE YOUR WARDROBE

1/01/2008

BRAND NEW - part 3 1-1-08

The Daily Blueprint for 1-1-08

BRAND NEW: A NEW YEAR - A NEW START
part 3

Lamentations 3:22-23
It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassion fails not. They are new every morning: great is Your faithfulness!

Welcome to 2008! I am sure all of your rang in the new year - I know some of you went to bed in 2007 only to wake up later in 2008! Some did not make it to midnight-but look at the time -this year is but 2 hours old and I am beginning the year with a new devotional - Today's verse is from Lamentations - a book I have not really used much at all (Partly because I can never seem to find it!) anyway - the theme today is the faithfulness of God - He has seen each of us through the year 2007 - and has remained faithful - HE is forever faithful - great is HIS faithfulness -I have to say again 2007 will not go down as the easiest of years for me and my family - all of us seemed to go from one trial to another - and it seemed there was no end in sight - but God proved once again faithful - He healed my step Mom Sande! And He was not yet done - He also healed my wife Missy from the pain she was having that caused her distress in her back - God is so good to us - and as HE has seen us through yet another year - 2008 will be the same deal - He is on HIS throne and in full and complete control - nothing will harm us unless He says so - and even when He says so - in the end it will end up a blessing - I pray that you and your family have a blessed new year!
I did not really make any resolutions this year - the only thing I want to do is live more for CHRIST and less for me - I find making promises is useless unless God is in the midst of it - we simply cannot do it on our own - there are areas that need improvement - and we must surrender that to God and let Him work it out - we can try it our way - but it will fail -lets surrender all to JESUS in 2008!
2008 is gonna be great!
HAPPY NEW YEAR AND GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

a side note: 2008 is brand new - we have 12 months to fill with God's grace - we have 365 days to draw closer and closer to JESUS - we are brand new today and every day - because God's mercies are new Every Morning!
may 2008 be your best year yet! In CHRIST! Daniel
in CHRIST we get a new start!

LIVIN IN THE WORD - NEW YEAR'S DAY - 1-1-08
2008 - ANOTHER YEAR TO SEE GOD'S FAITHFULNESS!

BRAND NEW part 2 12-31-07

The Daily Blueprint for 12-31-07

BRAND NEW: A NEW YEAR - A NEW START
part 2

Isaiah 43:19
Behold I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a way in the desert and rivers in the desert!

Welcome to the last day of 2007 - what have you done with your 365 days this year? Its all just a few ticks to 2008 - a new year stretches out before us - what plans does God have in place for us? One can only wonder - one thing is sure though - God is ready to do a new thing - He is ready for us to live in Him and for Him - He is ready to take us from mediocrity to a faith that is alive and flowing - like streams in the desert - speaking of that- 2007 has been one of the driest years here in North Alabama- we are still about 30 inches below normal and no end to it in sight and yet plants continue to live and some even thrive - God wants our faith to be like that -for there will be times of drought in our spiritual lives - things will happen that may try and take away our faith - but God has proven Himself time and time again - when HE says He will do a new thing - He will do it - Why not allow God to clean off your life and start anew - the only way this can happen is to give your life to Him -He wants all of it - not just the parts we don't want - this next year could be your greatest year - not that your circumstances will go right - although some believe once you know Christ your life will be blessed - it will be blessed but not always with physical blessings- allow God to give you a new heart- let Him do a new thing in your life - allow God to do what is needed - growing pains often hurt -but the end result is what God is seeking out in us!
So long to 2007 and welcome 2008 - a year of promise - Look over your past year and see where God has shown up! I am sure we all have answered prayers!
Lets rejoice in the year we have had and look forward to the year that is coming-
each year - each day is one day closer to Christ's return! Amen!
Allow GOD to do a new thing in your life in 2008!

a side note: Looking at a blank calander makes me wonder what is next?
God is in full control and He has it covered -lets trust in Him every day!
in CHRIST a new thing will be done in our lives!

LIVIN IN THE WORD - MONDAY - 12-31-07
JESUS CAME AS A NEW BORN BABY SO WE COULD BE BORN AGAIN!

Brand New 1 12-30-07

The Daily Blueprint for 12-30-07

BRAND NEW: A NEW YEAR - A NEW START
part 1

2nd Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any one be in CHRIST, they are a new creature: old things are passed away - behold, all things have become new!

I love this time of year -when the old year we have gone through is one for the History books - its a time to look back and forward at the same time - there is much expectation of the new year to come and lessons that we have leaned from the one that has just about passed. I give you the New Year's series - Brand New -

The new year that is just a few days away - holds much promise for better things- new things - we can become brand new if we would be born again - when we get born again -we have CHRIST Inside - much like Intel inside of computers! When we are reborn - we are changed - we are made brand new - the old things of our old life have passed a way - sure we may still struggle with the old us - but that's to be expected as long as we have these earthly bodies - Christ wants to come into your life and change you - to take all the old sin away and bring you brand new clothes - a brand new life - the change of the calendar is a good time to see things this way - for we have a whole new year ahead of us - blank pages of the calendar just waiting to be filled - I know many will make resolutions they will try to keep - many will fail - some will succeed - but only part of the year - as the next 365 days stretch out before us -lets remember God's mercies are new every morning -not just when the year changes - He has much for us in 2008 -as He did not 2007 - this year has been very hard for my family as I have said - but the good news is in CHRIST we can all be brand new - its a brand new start - may 2008 be a blessed year in your life - keep your eyes on CHRIST - and He will see you through yet another year!Behold GOD makes all things new! Wave good-bye to the old! Its gone! amen!

a side note: What dreams do you have for 2008? Why not begin today to ask God what HE desires -that is much more important then what we want!
in CHRIST all things are new!
